$6 bid for Greater Men and Women of the Bible? You will lose out.

By noon Pacific time Friday everyone who bid just $6.00 for Greater Men and Women of the Bible (and that's quite a few folks) will have lost the chance to get this fine resource. If you want it, you will need to increase your bid to $12.00. Just two latte's more. It is just possible if you do, you will get the six volumes for just $9.00 as it is already close to that price point.

Don't kick yourself Friday afternoon when you realize a great deal got away.

Yes, I support Mark's reasoning. I experienced similar situation once. I made bid one step lower than the eventual result and then I was just looking with surprise that I lost chance to have that resource for the 10% of the PrePub price. Guess what, I do not have that resource. And I regret it very much.

This resource is going to be so awesome. About one year ago, I done a study on John the Baptist and had to use multiple sources. Judging by the magnitude of this collection, I am almost sure it contains just as much information, if not more, than the other two books that I bought for the sole use of the one study.

I would assume from the graph that if those who are currently at $6 (and going to miss out on this 6 volume set), moved their bid to $9, we would all get it at $9.

So true! This happened to me also.

If you only moderately desire the resource, up your $6 bids everyone! If you miss out on a $9 price, it is very unlikely you will spend $99 for it in Pre-Pub.

... unless they take a minute to raise their bid to at least $9. Of course, the same is true for those who have not bid at all.

I would suggest that you make a post on the social networking (Facebook, etc.) sites to which you belong. You will find a link for some of the more popular ones on CP page for this book. Let people know that this is available!!

Then I remember TIMEZONES. Oh well ...

For me, the set is now about the price of two large coffees in the food-court at the Mall. Or about one serve-yourself main from one of the Asian sellers. Lets see how high I can stack chicken wings before they fall off and I have to pay a surcharge.

You have to wait for them to be produced. Community Pricing is used before the books are even produced. Then, when there are enough bids, they go into the Pre-Pub list while they are being produced. Once the resources are finished, then you will get a notification that your credit card is about to be charged, and then Logos 4 will download the books automatically.

But it could take months for the resources to be created and tagged and proofread. So enjoy the wait.

Sam I think "DOWNLOAD" on the left refers to the method in which you will be receiving this resource. I believe the process takes 6-8 weeks as I read somewhere... or more depending who you ask and what it is.

Once the resources are finished, then you will get a notification that your credit card is about to be charged, and then Logos 4 will download the books automatically.

Note that you do have an opportunity to cancel your order at this stage before your credit card is charged, if you're not able to come up with the funds at the time for example. Also this would be the time to update your credit card info if the expiration date has changed since you placed the order.

Just sit back and relax. There is nothing more to do if you are happy with your order.

The next step may be some time away, when the resource is ready to be released. Then about a week before release you'll receive an email inviting you to confirm/change your payment details. You can then amend/cancel your order until you are informed by email that your card has been charged. The resource should then download automatically if you are using Logos 4.

Dave, you haven't yet purchased it. You've put in your pre-order for when it becomes available. It still hasn't gone into development yet. The Community Pricing program is an opportunity to pre-order things at ridiculously low prices so that Logos can garner enough orders to make it worth producing the text. You will receive an email once the book is about ready to ship (it can be 6-8 weeks or longer for certain titles, depending on complexity). They will not charge your credit card until it actually ships, and you'll have about a day's warning. At that time you can cancel it if you find you've changed your mind, or you can update your credit card info if it's changed in the weeks since you placed your order.

Once it ships and your credit card is charged, Logos 4 will automatically detect it and the next time you start up Logos, it will download automatically. It will also have to be indexed which should start automatically as well, possibly requiring one more restart of Logos.

We are still early in the process. Now that Logos knows the cost to create the resource will be covered, they will begin. The time it takes depends on the complexity of the text (tagging scripture references, foreign languages, etc.) and how many other books are in the production pipeline ahead of it. Once it is ready, you will be notified, you will be billed, and you will be sent an update script (Libronix/Logos 3) or the next time you start Logos 4, it will automatically download it.

That price times the number of people who put in bids at that price is the total production cost. In this case more than 100% of the production cost was covered because the number of $9.00 bids were over the 100% cost of production line.

None of us can speak for Logos, but I assume subsequent prices produce profit and the additional costs of keeping the company running. Some probably also comes back to us in the very generous discounts we get for packages of software when a new version comes out. Some profits fund the development of the software, the cost of running the web sites and so on. Logos has developed a pricing structure that most of us find fair. They are just willing to give those who support the production of the resources a very good deal. Community pricing is the best of those deals.
