Go sit in a Morris Proctor Seminar
I just got back from the Morris Proctor seminar in Chicago. Even though I know the program pretty well, I gained some key insights just the same.
The biggie for me was that Morris cleared up for me the power of collections which I had vastly under-utilized.

I was also there in Chicago. I left with a new motivation and skills! Mo does an awesome job. We're hoping to offer the Inductive Bible Study Seminar in Cedar Rapids in the fall 2011. Is anyone on the forum interested in traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa?

Yes! I've spent some time tagging all of my commentaries (Platinum package), with critical ,exegetical and application commentary tags. I'm up to about twenty eight collections otherwise. Ah, but Logos has Shakespeare's complete works in pre-pub. I suspect "Get thee to a seminar" was an allusion to "Get thee to a nunnery" from Hamlet. Much more famous a quote than any of the few places where "get thee to" appears in the KJV. (And I know you were only joking; I just like being pedantic sometimes. [:)])

I heartily agree that the Morris Proctor seminar in Chicago was excellent!! I'm sure I got a lot more out of it than Thomas did as I'm not as far along on the learning curve at this point. I thought it was money and time well spent.

Yes, I echo the recommendation for the MP seminar. I sat in on the one in Seattle in March, and it was excellent and very up-to-date (he was already teaching the new 4.0b features the day after it was released!). Morris is a great teacher. The manual is very well done. Plus, you get discounts on some Logos titles at the book table! [:)]

So I popped over to see what the seminars cost.
That's a lot of money for a layman to spend. Although I hope to someday add a bigger, nicer set of more scholarly commentaries and dictionaries, I have no need to upgrade to anything more than the Bible Study Library.
Would any of you still recommend that someone like me lay out money on a seminar instead of using that money for more books to beef up my collection?

It depends on where you live and whether the seminar will ever be coming to your city. If it will, I do highly recommend the in-person seminar; it's hard to beat that kind of interactive format for learning (depending on your learning style). However you can learn a ton just by watching all the free online training videos at http://www.logos.com/videos and the user-generated tutorial videos at http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Video_Tutorials, and poking around through the user-maintained Logos wiki (especially the sections linked in from the Table of Contents, but don't stop there): http://wiki.logos.com/. Also keep reading the forums and ask questions here when you're stumped.

I have watched nearly every video over there, except the ones dealing with languages, I think. The wiki is a little confusing to me, but I've been over there whenever I was looking for something specific, too.
There have been a few seminars nearby (Austin, TX) already, so I imagine there will be others.
I do appreciate the kindness and help one can get here on the forums. I have almost never been treated as if I am a lower life form just because I don't have super-technical questions to ask.
