Suggestion re: Notes files

It would be great if Notes came with some pre-loaded files. Personally, I create a new file for each chapter. That way I only call up a relatively small file for each which enhances performance. Perhaps a pre-loaded set which included every chapter, plus some topical ones like The Parousia, Atonement, Hell, etc.

    You mean 20,000 pre-loaded files?

Sorry  - I should have been clearer. There are only 1189 Chapters in the Bible. Those and a few topics wouldn't need to reach the kind of range you mentioned.

    Peace and Joy to you!

Actually, I wouldn't be interested in someone else's notes.

Also, probably won't look (will read but not study) to any notes in Obadiah in 2010.  Haven't preached on Obadiah in over 25 years ...

Finally, when I have my Bible open on the L4 left side, I have a Study Bible or a good Commentary on the right side, making a note when something "strikes" me!   Blessings!

Yeah, the idea isn't to have someone else's notes, just to have blank files with the headings already installed. In other words, you if you were reading Genesis 14, and wanted to create a note of verse 14 of chapter 14, when you right click on vs. 14 and select the "add a note to" - the chapter you are on would already be listed, and you would create your note. You wouldn't have to create a heading.

I understand why you want the feature - but I never use chapters as a unit ... if you rethink the idea in terms of having the ability to have default new note files with chapter being one possible default, your idea has merit.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I like the idea.  That would greatly aid me in the organization of my notes. I use notes constantly and I must admit, I have so many that I would like some way to organize them.  Also, the colors available in the notes function and the little square box that appears when I add a note to a reference could stand some upgrading.

OK MJ, good thought. What if it worked like this:

You're in 2 Timothy 2:2. You right click on the reference and the box pops up which shows the "Reference 2 Timothy 2:2"

Then below, it gives the following options:

    Add a note to 2 Timothy 2

    Add a note to 2 Timothy 2:2

Add a note to a defined range (this opens a dialog to define it)

Add a note to the current pericope

Add a note to (shows the various open note sets)

Add a note to General notes

Add a note to Other (any other defined resource)

We could perhaps collapse "Defined Range", & "Other" & "Open note set" into the same one.

    Would that appear more useful?

It has been discussed before, but adding the ability to have templates that can be imported would be nice.
