Pre-pubs are on the move again

I've just received email today of three pre-pubs that are going to be shipping soon (Aug 5). Boy, it's been a long time since I've gotten one of those emails and it feels good. Take a look to see if any of these are deals you wouldn't want to miss out on, because after Aug 5 it will be too late:

Contemporary Church Collection

Form Criticism Collection

History of Jerusalem Collection

I was thinking of titling this post "Aslan is on the move again" (a quote from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe), but alas the Lion History Series which has been in pre-pub for a long time (I ordered it on 1/22/08) is still "Gathering Interest." Isn't anyone else interested in getting the Lion on the move again?

The former rate at which Logos was putting out new resource was just too much! Sometimes fifteen to twenty resources released in a month! I hope this manageable rate continues & gone be the days of wallet breaking release rates.

I do hope Logos think about this issue and consider the impact it has on their Loyal customers.I know Logos has a vision of putting out, if I am correct about 4000 resource this year. I doubt if customers will be able to keep up with such high volume of releases. Just think if the Anchor Yale and other pricey stuff were released in a month[:'(]! I see folk just cancelling and making the decision to forgo some resources for others.

Sorry Rosie for hijacking your thread. Please Logos slow down a bit and do not put out too many pricey stuff all in one month. You do want us to buy these resources don't you[;)]?

Rosie!  *smile*  Thanks for the "heads up"!  Appreciated!

Ted!  I concur with everything you've said here.  I really want lots of the pre-pubs that are coming, but I can only budget so many Canadian dollars a month.  (Guess you think of pounds and sterling and all that, eh?)  *smile*    Thanks for sharing.

I agree, especially now that the average cost of a prepub is higher than they used to be--they're almost all collections now, whereas in the past we had a lot more single volumes.

The first half of the year has wiped me out--it was a good time for new releases.  So I personally will be cancelling if they come very fast. I'll have to start calling Logos'  sales team more to get a good price, since I think I'm going to have start missing the pre-pub prices.

Nevertheless...I agree with Rosie: everyone needs to pre-order the Lion History Series. 1900 pages of color-illustrated history texts is a bargain at $69.95!

Totally agree: Absoutely crucial to maintaining my pre-order list is that the release rate is reasonable and moderate else there would be no choice but to cancel some.

Would also be useful to have the option to change only SOME of my CD-ROM orders to download, rather than all or nothing.
Some of the pre-orders are old enough that download was not a credible option here at the time.
Nevertheless, the prospect of having to download scores of files for some of the larger collections on pre-pub is not practical for many of us even now!

I don't think installing the CD-ROM version (which will be a Libronix install with Logos 3 files) will prevent a large download because Logos 4 will try to replace any version 3 files (.lbxlls) with version 4 files (.logos4) the next time it connects to the internet (if the resources are available in the newer format)--which is why the option to switch the CD-ROM orders to Download is all or nothing.

(Was that a long enough sentence?)

    Almost

Correct:  but for those of us running Logos 3 on laptops which are not up to running Logos 4, manually downloading the Logos 3 files for :

    • The Life and Works of Horatius Bonar (44 Vols.)

    • The Harvard Classics and Fiction Collection (71 Vols.)

    • G. Campbell Morgan Collection (30 Vols.)

    • et cetera

is not something I would welcome......

Manually downloading six or seven hundred files for the Theological Journal Library would be a nightmare without good FTP capability or the CDs/DVDs .......
(ie: there are cases where links to individual files from the "My Account" page would be a deterent..... )
