bible version of dictionaries

In Logos, whatever Bible you set as your preferred Bible will be the one that the links jump to. I have Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary, and I can confirm that the links do indeed jump to KJV when I set KJV as my preferred Bible. And there is nothing in the front matter of AYBD that says all Scripture quotations are from the NRSV (or any other version for that matter). But if you are a KJV only person, you would probably find the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary too liberal for you.

I would recommend something published earlier in the 20th century or late 19th century, as KJV was practically the universal standard back then so most dictionary writers would have referenced it.

To that end, I'd suggest you take a look at the dictionaries edited by James Hastings that are currently in Community Pricing (CP) or pre-pub:

• Dictionary of the Bible - CP
• A Dictionary of the Bible (5 vols.) - CP
• A Dictionary of Christ and the Gospels (2 vols.) - CP
• Dictionary of the Apostolic Church (2 vols.) - CP
• Encyclopaedia of Religion and Ethics (13 vols.) - pre-pub
• The Greater Men and Women of the Bible (6 vols.) - pre-pub

Pre-pub is a great deal, sometimes 50% or more off the price that it will go up to once it reaches production. It's a way for Logos to gauge interest and get enough orders in advance to justify going into production. Community Pricing is an even better deal, for public domain works. It allows you to bid what you're willing to pay, and once the production costs are reached, it can go into pre-publication. You might be able to get some of these dictionaries for about $10-15 each. The only problem is these things aren't available yet, and you might want something right now. If you want something that is available right now, try Smith's Bible Dictionary, which says in the front, "Scripture quotations, unless otherwise indicated, are from the King James Version and the Revised Version of the Bible." I wouldn't worry too much about the "unless otherwise indicated" because most of the time they just give the reference and link to whatever Bible you've marked as your preferred Bible.

OK...I meant in the English speaking world. Of course there are no KJV only people outside of the English speaking world, so it was relative to his worldview that I was speaking, trying to accommodate myself to the questionner. And we'd best not go further down this trail, for obvious reasons...

Rosie, I know that you meant well - but did you forget Paul.  One of my parishioners was convinced that this was the Bible Paul used. [:)]
