BUG: Tyndale commentaries & parrallel resources

I'm not sure if this is related to this beta or not, as I've only just made the purchase.
I bought the Tyndale Commentaries (49 volumes), and they show up in my passage guide collections for Top Commentaries and Commentaries, but they do not show in parallel resources.
Can someone who has this series check to see if its beta related or do I have a unique bug?
Thanks

Thanks for the response. I didn't see anything in the link that helped me out.
Any other ideas? Why would it occur in my PG collections, but not in parrallel resources?
Also - If I am in one of the Tyndale Commentaries, parallel resources shows my other commentaries...strange??

a) sometimes commentaries are indexed differently. i could not get the BKC to show other collections when in John 1:1-28. So i selected the one showing and it still did not show other collections. So i changed the reference to Matt and wala the other collections appeared.
b) also don't forget to look for page numbers at the bottom of the PR drop down.
So try changing reference to a broader range or different books and see if your Tyndale collection shows up. At least you can understand how L4 has indexed it.

In your collection Top Commentaries i don't see the Tyndale commentaries. Could you show a screen shot of Top Commentary collection. (btw are you expecting the Tyndale comm to be in that collection or are you expecting a different collection?)
i see in the PG that you have it. i don't see the Tyndale NT in the PR for either the collection or parallel resources. Try going the other way around, open the Tyndale commentary to Matthew 1:1 and then see what shows in the PR drop down from it.
i looked in the metadata wiki page, to my understanding it looks OK.
the MacArthur Study Bible seems to be indexed as a commentary (in your PR it shows other commentaries).

Your PG Collections section will show any Matthew reference that is in any Tyndale commentary, not just in the Matthew volume which is what PR attempts to do ie. PR is looking for the article that discusses the reference. So I would suggest you put your commentaries collections in multiple Commentaries sections of the PG to get the same sort of results. Use a specific reference like Matt 2:3-5 and see if Tyndale appears in the PG or PR (parallel resources).

I can look at Matthew 1:1 in the Tyndale commentary, PR (including showing top commentaries) shows my commentaries as expected. I select the Pillar Commentary on Matthew 1:1 from PR no problem. But clicking on PR again and the Tyndale Commentary doesn't come up.
Metadata seems good for the Matthew volume looking its details in My Library. (The 2 Peter and Jude Volume isn't tagged as Tyndale Commentary series though which needs to be fixed)

It is shown as "type:bible commentary" in my library.

Ok, so I'll try rebuilding my index, as perhaps that is my problem.
Notice the yellow three yellow boxes. Notice the four red boxes. The commentary doesn't show in my PG all commentaries (you can see all of my commentaries), and it doesn't show in PR either.

this is interesting. i would like to see a screen shot of the Tyndale commentary (with Mt 1:1) showing the PR drop down list.
also when you are in the MacArthur Study Bible NASB, i can only see a few of the commentaries in the PR drop down under All Parallel Resources. Could you scroll thru the list and see if the Tyndale commentary on Matthew is in the list (using the MacArthur Study Bible NASB).

pages shows up when the resource that you are in appears in multiple collections. L4 will show each collection that your current resource appears in.

Hi David,
I am not having any problems with this set showing up in my parallels.
I had a problem where some commentaries were not showing up in parallel resource assignments even though they were in collections and should have shown up on the parallel drop downs. Recently, after seeing how Mark Barnes had prioritized his resources (http://www.4-14.org.uk/prioritising-resources-in-logos-4 He also posted a picture of his prioritization setup somewhere on this site, but I can't find it anymore) I tried this for my missing resources and they then showed up in my parallel resource drop downs.
Try prioritizing one of the tyndale commentaries (which will prioritize the set) and see if that helps.
Regards,
Clinton

David ~ When you right click on one of the Tyndale commentaries in your Library, is "Prioritize this series" one of the options?

helps.Yes. The series has been my fourth prioritized commentary series, I just moved the series to the very top of prioritization, restarted L4 but no difference. See image below

Perhaps a related bug - When in the Pulpit Commentary I don't even get Top Commentaries PR
EDIT: It appears that when I'm not in one of my top rated commentaries, Top Commentaries never shows in PR. Top Commentaries only show when I'm already in one of my top commentaries. I'm sure this isn't normal is it? It also happens with bibles and my Common Bibles collection.

Here you go Steve. And when in the MacArthur Study Bible on Matthew 1:1 the Tyndale Commentary on Matthew definitely does not appear in PR
i think there is definitely a bug or something not installed properly here. Notice that in the PR's Top Commentaries drop down that it is missing your current commentary (the one that you are in when you click on PR button). The current commentary should show up with an orange vertical bar on the left next to it.
To my understanding the current resource must always appear in a collection in the drop down.
You are probably in the 4.1Beta. It would be nice if someone here on the forum who has the Tyndale OT/NT commentary and running the Beta try to duplicate this. i am at a loss, any MVPs your assistance would be very helpful.

I get the orange line when my current resource does show in PR like you say.

Pete Li, the first reply in this thread has it working properly by the sound of it and he is on the current beta as well.
Thanks a lot for your time anyway Steve, muchly appreciated.

The image i posted was your image, it had no orange bar in it.
In zooming on Peter's image i could not find the Tyndale commentary (except the Concise version) in his commentary list.
Hey glad to try and help, sorry that i was unable to resolve your problem [:(]

From your other shots Pulpit doesn't appear to be in Top Commentaries - we need a screen shot of this collection showing how it is defined & another shot if necessary showing Tyndale, Pillar and Pulpit commentaries as part of the collection.
Also open one of your Top Commentaries to Hebrew 10:1-18 and see if the Tyndale volume appears in PR.

Sorry. What I meant was when a resource I have open does show in my PR, I do get the line. But as Tyndale doesn't show, there was no line in the image I posted.

Indeed you are right, perhaps he misunderstood my OP.

Incidentally, how are we supposed to report metadata errors? One volume of the Tyndale Commentary Series (49 volumes) has no metadata for series

It appears that you're metadata needs to be updated, which may fix all the problems you're seeing with the Tyndale Commentaries. Close the program and go to your Logos4 folder, open Data\uniquefolder.xxx\Updates and delete the Metadata.db file. Start Logos 4 and wait a few minutes to give it a chance to download the metadata before checking those resources in Library.

No. Pulpit has to be in Top Commentaries for the collection to be in PR, otherwise ALL your collections would show in PR ie. if Pulpit is displaying a passage its PR will include Top Commentaries only if Pulpit is part of that collection.

It can sometimes take longer. You might also try restarting a second time.

I tried it again today, deleted the files, then opened L4 to a blank layout before going out for a few hours. Came home and the problem still isn't solved. Tried restarting as well but no change.

Bradley, why is there a US and a non-US version? All the internal cross reference links in the US version link to the non-US version.

The metadata has been refreshed, and should be downloaded by Logos 4 the next time you restart (you may have to wait a minute); this should fix the problems that were observed.

I now have the same problem with Job:An Introduction and Commentary and 1 and 2 Kings: An introduction and Commentary in The Tyndale Commentary Series. They do not appear in Parallel Resources, either in Top Commentaries or All Parallel Resources. Nor do they appear in my custom Passage Guide.
In My Library they have the correct series metadata, however these are the only two volumes which do not have any Subjects metadata. Is this the problem?

Has this been a reversal of behaviour since the recent metadata update fixed the others or did they always behave this way?

I can't say for sure as this is the first time I've used these volumes. I would guess they always behaved this way though, and the recent metadata fix fixed some volumes, but not these.

Melissa, does this thread help? http://community.logos.com/forums/t/9971.aspx
It seems that sometimes (often?) Logos isn't "trying" hard enough to update the Metadata. The solution in that thread ended up being renaming the metadata file to force it to recreate from the newest data available on the server.

That is what I had David try initially when the problem originated, however, the problem was with the metadata for that series. There is still an open case on the Tyndale Commentaries metadata issues, so I'm not sure the problem has been completely resolved. I've updated the case with David's continuing problems with the series.

Although not the same problem as the OP, I am having issues with the metadata for this series as well.
On my main work computer at the church, deleting the metadata solved the problem. On my laptop, only one volume shows up in the series.
I am running Windows 7 on both and both are running the same version of Logos 4. One is working perfect, the other is not. I have deleted the metadata several times now on the laptop with the same result. I have even re-indexed.
Any ideas or help on the way?
While I am at it, I think this series is named strangely. I mean the individual volumes. It lists the book(s) it is covering, then " an introduction and commentary." It makes more sense to me to name it by the set, then the book(s) it is covering in that volume. That may be a publisher decision, not Logos, but it is still annoying to me. Annoying enough that I went through and re-named all 49 volumes.
The good news is, Logos 4 is so cool that I only had to do it once, and it showed up on my other computer!

The issue should be resolved soon. When it is, the metadata will be automated automatically after a Logos 4 restart.

We use the titles from the print versions. For other commentary series, you might find it helpful to arrange your Library by the 'Series' column when looking for a particular volume.

Thanks Melissa!
I will look forward to that. Any clue as to what "soon" means? [:D]
I appreciate the tip on sorting things differently. I also appreciate the ability to re-name things if I want to.
