Question of resource availability and or of formatting...

question/assuumption:

I have well over 4000 resources in my library.  can I assume that on my iphone and ipad, I will only see the resources that are available for the devices? (from here: http://www.logos.com/iphone/support/resourcelist)

next question, and I have only spot checked to assume that the resources available are on the resource list (that seems to be the case).  then why when I open any (so far) of the books that have any special formatting (parallels, interlinear's, etc...), is the formatting, and therefore the text unreadable?

    Hello Brent.....

As for your first question/assumption, you have assumed correct.  I have seen the percents of about 65% or greater of their library can be found in the ipad or ipod application.

The second question.....I am not sure what your meaning.  I opened the ESV which has an interlinear.  It shows great as an English bible.  If you touch the word you want the Hebrew or Greek word of it will come up.  It does not show it naturally.  What resource are you referring to is undreadable?

In my interlinear the text is formatted.  (not reverse, or lookup)  the Lexham Hebrew, as example.  each word is shown, with other types direclty under it.  (MS, LEX, English, Morph, as example, depending on what is selected in L3/4 to display.  on the ipad (and iphone), the test is sort of just streamed together and useless to me.  I am enclosing a screen shot of the lexham hebrew interlinear.  the first one is from the ipad, the second a screenshot from L4:

This is a problem with other special formatted books (all that I have seen thus far).  my Harmony of the Gospels (AT Robertson) is a formatted book (I have a hard-copy as well)  in the book and in L3/4, the columns are easy to see and be able to read "horizontally" through the pericope's.  in the Ipad, there never seems to be more than one colume for anything and there is overlapping texts on nearly every page.  again, making this resource useless.

I can upload more samples if needed.

BTW - this app is THE reason i bought an iPad.  i thought these issues on my iPhone, was just because of the small display.  now I see that I was wrong.  i am very disappointed.

I've always found it easier to check for resource availability on the Iphone at imageimageimagehttp://library.logos.com/?beta=true
    they are searchable there.

EDIT: You can also see how many of your resources will be available on mobile devices.

As was mentioned, the resources that are available on the device (iPad/iPhone), ARE the only ones available.  NAS26 as example is in my library, but not NAS27 (on the iPad), even though I own them both and they are in my library on L4 on my desktop.  the issue is why are there books that ARE on the list and that DO show up, and that do not format correctly.  they are useless to view. on either device, the iPad or iPhone.

    Brent,

I think you understand that not all of your L4 resources will be available on the iPad or iPhone.  Some of the publishers have not given authority for their books to be put there.  Some Logos has not had time to put up. The problem that I see you defining is.....this.   A few resources on the iPad or iPhone do not show up like on the L4 desktop version and you find it difficult to cope with.  I do not want to make light of your problem.  I personally do not find it unmanageable.  I admit I do not use that resource much.  I am usually just reading something like a journal or a couple of other books.  You are not the only person that dislikes this format as observed by another poster in this thread.  Maybe in time Logos can change the display around for these books?  As you look around at some of the apps.....you might find something that really catches your fancy....I know I have.  Lord's Blessings on your studies.

maybe in time...? I don't disagree.  my POINT about all this is tha tthey ARE current available, and that means they should be available.  I would much rather see a much-reduced set of available resources that WORK, than a large set that has many (or some) that do not work.  This is exactly wht athey did with L4.  and what they apparently "tried" (and failed) with the iPhone/iPad app.

With the way that Logs is careful about releasing things, you would think that these points are addressed prior to their release.

As one of the oldest customers (remember the stacks of floppies, for only a couple Bibles?) who has spent many tens of thousands of dollars on resources with Logos, knowing their committment in making this Library a priority and somthing that is not a fly-by-night; This is very dissapointing.  NOT becuase the resources are not readable, but rather that they ARE available and shouldn't be.

i am very dissapointed in the company, not that I have broken resources.

Please keep in mind that the iPod/iPad app is free.  Yes, it has a few bugs, but I am sure that a lot of work has gone into it.  I would much rather have the app that I have on my iPod than nothing - they didn't have to develop this (or they could have made us pay for it...)  Developing for a platform like the the iPod/iPad takes resources and $$$ and they are not getting a return on that - I am very grateful for what I have!  I recently bought an iPod mostly for use with the Logos app.  I am sorry to hear that you are so disappointed in the company and I hope these problems get worked out to your satisfaction.  In the meantime (while they are still working on it) I am getting a lot of use and enjoyment out of it! [:D]

    Thanks Logos!

We are actively working on the next major release of the iPhone/iPad app, which will have a new display engine that will correctly display advanced formatting such as in interlinear resources.

thank you. I appreciate that update!  in one swoop/post, my faith in Logos has been restored (not that it was gone, as I have continued purchasing resources even after i knew about the issue, since my main use is still my tablet PC, my "Bible".

That is great to hear. is there a place we can see the details that compose the next update? E.g. would clips be added and note taking, copy paste, etc.?
