Bug: Beta 3: "#image ANDEQUALS commode" search returns hits not related to the term.

When I did this search I got 3 hits

1.) 1000 Biblical images (a scene of Babylon, and "shops for buying fabrics." Neither of which have the word commode in them)

2.) Mirriam Webster dictionary (with the correct information)

3.) The Earthly footsteps of the man from Galilee and the journeys of his apostles. (the picture has the word "commodities" in it...certainly not related)

When i turn off "match all word forms, the only remaining hit is Merriam Webster.

If you strip the ANDEQUALS it becomes clear that the program thinks commodity is a form of commode. Looking at the dictionary for the historical definition I can see that they are probably derived from the same word.

Now if you can just get you mind out of the toilet.... [:P]

It's not a bug, more of a limitation. Word-stemming is an inaccurate science - we can't rely on it.

Interesting..I had no idea....that's why when I turn off "match all word forms" I only get the Webster dictionary hit.

The Detailed Search Help page on the wiki might help. It says:

Match All Word Forms is also useful. It means you don’t
need to use wildcards every time you want to search for different forms
of the same word. The drop-down menu on a search tab allows you to turn
Match all word forms on. Logos will then use some built in logic to try and search for all forms of the word. So searching for love,
with ‘match all word forms’ turned on will return find love, loved,
loves, lovely, loving and love’s. Note that the logic isn’t perfect. In
this case, lover wouldn’t be found. If your search needs to be precise, think about using lists, below.

It perhaps might be better of the option was called 'Match other word forms', rather than 'Match all word forms'.
