Logos HD (feature requests)
Hello,
I am a frequent user of Logos. In fact Logos became my one and only resource for bible study except for books that are not available in Logos I use kindle on Amazon. My iPad is a my all day companion since it is available. A big Thanks to Logos for providing such an App.
I've put a list together of wishes I personally have for the iPad Version of Logos. I call it Logos HD, as most of it wont be compatible on the little screen of the iphone.
- Ability to display two pages next to each other of two different books. For example a Bible and a Commentary. In landscape mode (next to each other) or portrait mode (above each other).
- Ability to have kind of a Rack (like in IBook). In my point of view, the library view wastes too much blank space.
- Ability to create your own rack of preferred books. When you have 1400 books, it becomes difficult to remember the titles or page through the complete list, An option to create multiple racks would be also interesting. Like a Bible Rack, Commentary Rack, etc.
- Increase performance of displaying contents of books. Even when a book is downloaded, it takes quite a while to jump to different chapters and passages.
- Redesign Homescreen and make it more useful. Similar to Logos for Win/Mac? Or add nice big buttons for most used functions like (read your favorite bible, search, parallel reading of predefined books see request 1)
- Set bookmarks and make Notes
I know, not all features are easy to implement, but my wishes remain ;-)
Feel free to add your own wishes in this Post!
Be blessed,
Anatol

To add another wish:
- Grouping of books in the library view. I have collections of writings that include up to 100 books. For Example: The Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers. It would be nice to see just one item mentioned as a library. After selecting it, you get a choice of the specific book. This will make browsing of the library easier.

I like the "rack" idea. For me, it would be nice to set a "rack" or collection so that it's enabled for offline use by default. Moreover, each book in that offline collection or rack needs to be aware of each other so that you can reference (interact) across offline books.
(I get an unable to load book error when doing an offline (in a downloaded book)in book lookup that should utilize another offline book by default)
As it stands now the iPod/iPhone app doesn't seem to know that other offline books are available for "interact-cross-book" reference even though when online those book do interact-cross-book.p.s. I'm posting this from my little iPod touch. Ouchy!

Does the iPad app not allow more than one book to be open now?
I like the idea of iPad for mobility and to solely use it for Logos. But, I use the iPhone app now and am leaning to a MacBook since I know I can get all the features that I need.
Questions:
is the iPad app just a larger version of the iPhone app or are there more features in the iPad app?
Are there more titles available to the iPad app than the iPhone app (due to more real estate)? To date, neither the Nestle-Aland v27 is available on the iPhone nor is the JNT Commentary which accompanies the Jewish New Testament translation.

No

It is the same app--same features. It just supports the iPad native screen resolution when installed on an iPad.

thanks much. hopefully, it will change next year. iPad would be a wonder way to use Logos away from a workstation, but not being able to open more than one book is a show stopper for me.

I agree that this is a much needed feature, but there's no reason that opening at least two resources can't be done on the iPhone either. Other Bible software supports that. Indeed, on the iPhone 4, 3 or more resources ought to be possible.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

While they cannot be displayed side by side, if you click on the book at the bottom of the screens you should be able to switch from a Bible to a commentary and then back again. So that might work until this feature is added.
Blessing,
Philana
