10 Volumes missing from Everyman's Bible Commentary Series
In the Everyman's Bible Commentary Series there are 10 volumes missing.
Exodus by Ronald F. Youngblood 1983
Esther by John C. Whitcomb 1979
Song of Solomon by Paige Patterson 1986
Daniel by John C. Whitcomb 1985
Jonah and Nahum by John R. Kohlenberger 1984
Nahum Zephaniah Habakkuk by Hobart E. Freeman 1973
Luke by Paul N. Benware 1985
John by Robert W. Yarbrough 1991
Titus and Philemon by D. Edmond Hiebert 1957
The Epistles of John by Donald W. Burdick 1970
I thought that maybe these individual authors did not give their permission to publish their individual volumes but this doesn't seem to be the case. Paul N Benware already has 2 other volumes in the series, Survey of the New and Old Testament and D. Edmond Hiebert has 2 other volumes 1 and 2 Timothy. This seems to be an oversight by Logos. Could we have these other published. Can any one tell me why these volumes are missing. I have the whole series in Paper and I could send these to logos if they need these volumes.
Plus I have another volume in the Series Daniel by G. Coleman Luck 1958 although Daniel by John C. Whitcomb is better.

And unfortunately, several of the missing volumes are the most praised of the bunch (Exodus, Song of Solomon, Jonah). I bought the pre-pub knowing that those volumes were missing, so I don't have a problem with that fact...but is there any chance of seeing an "upgrade" package with the other volumes?

From what I gathered when I raised this matter with Logos is that there were some licensing issues. The issue of who to track down to get permission from was difficult as some of these authors are deceased. There was no promise that this will be made available at a future time. Basically, that was the substance of the response, mainly licensing problems!

But if you have the same author who has a book in the series in the electronic edition and another book not in the electronic edition it seems like an oversight.

I had guessed it was licensing issues, though I'm not entirely sure about the deceased authors problem. I searched for the three authors of the three volumes that I mentioned and as far as I can tell, all three are still alive and in positions at seminaries, etc where it shouldn't be difficult to reach them. That may be the case with a few of them on the larger list though as I only quickly checked the three I had the most interest in.

I haven't seen him for more than 40 yrs. I thought his collaboration with Morris on The Genesis Flood was pretty lame.

I did not mean that all the authors were deceased but some, and so therefore there were tracking down problems. The rest who do not fall under that category were due to licensing problems, the nature of which was not spelt out. In both cases, problems with licensing was the reason given. I really think that Logos has a responsibility to point this out in their advertising. When you buy something "sight unseen" it should be responsibility of the seller to tell you that you are not getting the whole set. When you read the copy about the series, it seems to be the complete set. I like the material that I received, but I really thought I was buying the whole set.

I called Dr. Whitcomb on the phone today and he was unaware that Libronix existed. He said that Moody owned the rights to his Daniel commentary and he owned the rights to his Esther commentary. I gave him Logos number and he said he would call them. He sounded very interested in having his books in electronic format. I still think Moody did not send all the copies over to Logos for publication. I could be wrong but I would like an official explanation from sombody at Logos.

I'd still like to see the remaining volumes in Logos, assuming they can get licensing issues or whatever straightened out. In particular, I'm interested in Exodus, Song of Solomon, Jonah, and Daniel...but all of them would be great!

Ditto!! No comments from Logos yet on this issue, which is surprising. Maybe the issue got swept under the carpet over time and forgotten.
