Open with preferred layout
I really like the change with the Bible Reading Plan, bringing me right to either today's date or where I left off. Good work!
Now, are you guys working on the Layouts, such that I can have my preferred layout open automatically when I open the program?
Plus... The fact that the layout does an auto-save without asking me is WONDERFUL. One of the most annoying aspects of Accordance is exactly that. Before quitting the program, I'm asked if I want to save the contents of the windows. If yes, then I have to give it a name. If the name is the same, then I'm asked if I want to replace it. At that point I just say forget it and hit cancel. (I only use Accordance because I can have good English and German translations open next to each other).
You guys have eclipsed that in one fell swoop with auto-save. Bravo! So now make the preferred desktop layout to open (auto-open) automatically and you'll be the simple UI Kings!
By the way, the date on the Start Page has off for the past few days. It indicates today is the 8th, when it's the 4th.

Uh, duh! I just realized the dates on the start page refer to SUNDAY READINGS... and Sundays only occur ever 7 days. (Starting to sound like the discussion of how often the Beta releases are coming)

I've asked for this before, but received no response. My work around is to have a saved layout which I keep updated from session to session which follows my reading plan. Not as slick as just clicking on today's reading, but it gets the job done.

I don't know how far along the Mac UI is at all, but I'm assuming it's pretty similar to the Windows UI by now. In the Windows version, we can have Logos automatically open with our preferred layout by turning off the checkbox "Show home page at startup" (on the Customize menu at the lower left of the Home Page):
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're asking.

I can confirm 'Show home page at startup' exists now in L4 Mac.
However, my understanding, which may be incorrect, was that he wants to be able to click on a daily reading in the reading plan and for it to open with a layout that he has chosen. I would be interested to know how many use the default layout that the reading plan opens to, but I don't personally find it helpful for a devotional layout.

A word of warning needs to be sounded about opening to anything other than the Home Page at start up especially if you are mixing windows and Mac installations.
If one of your resources crashes the Mac on the opening of a favourite layout it will crash every time you open Logos. It will be necessary to go back to the Windows version and set the 'Show home page at startup' back on in order to use the program.
In due course these 'file' anomalies will be sorted out - but there are enough postings in this forum from people having problems with windows saved layouts to make not going via the home page a risk strategy. Before going this route people should be certain that their layouts (and other synced files) are indeed functioning smoothly on the mac.

Hi Mike, does the Mac have the provision yet for opening up to a blank layout? We've had crashing problems on the Windows side too, opening into a saved layout occasionally. But you can bypass the layout by holding the Ctrl key down while starting up Logos. This will bring up the login screen with an option to start up in a blank layout, with no resources open, and no home page either. (The Home Page has also caused crashes on startup sometimes, too, so it's beneficial to be able to bypass that sometimes.)

Your point is well taken and necessary! Previously, Logos was opening with the last desktop layout and if a resource was part of it (in that case Reformation Study Bible) it would cause Logos to crash and not even be able to open.
The solution was to hold the control key while opening to log in manually, and to select show Home Page at start-up
So, that being said, in the future, when we'll be at the point in development that resources will no longer cause a crash, it would be nice if getting to my preferred layout would be easier than selecting it from a drop down menu.
Even if the Home Page opens first (which is fine and perhaps safer) I would prefer to click in the upper left corner on the Home icon, and that it would switch to, and automatically open the last layout I had open. That would be cool, that would be intuitive and that would be Mac!
By the way... you're all up late, that is, if you're in the US! I'm in Munich and it's almost lunch time.

A quick test shows that opening Logos with the Control Key held opens normally.
Opening from Spotlight with the Command Key held down highlights Logos in Finder (as is to be expected)
Opening Logos from Finder with the Command Key held down does present the Log In screen but does not offer the option to open with a blank layout.

Well, that sounds like some missing feature parity that should be reported to the Logos Mac Devs, then. Here's what the login screen looks like on the Windows side:
Not that it needs to look the same on the Mac, mind you, but it should offer the same functionality where possible. I'm not sure whether Macs have to deal with proxy settings sometimes too, to connnect to the Internet, but that would be another feature parity area to check if so. When we click on that "Proxy settings" it opens up some more edit controls to fill in:

Keyboard shortcut CMD + Shift + H goes to Home Page while keyboard shortcut CMD + Shift + S goes to Search.
To bypass Home Page or Layout at startup: hold CMD key while launching Logos 4 Mac, after signing in, type CMD + Shift + S => opens blank layout with Search panel.
Windows shortcuts for cut (CTRL + X) , copy (CTRL + C) and paste (CTRL + V) came years after Mac shortcuts for cut (CMD + X), copy (CMD + C), and paste (CMD + V) - easier to type on Mac due to command key placement.
Ongoing, many Windows keyboard shortcuts using CTRL use Command (cloverleaf) key on Mac:

Can you explain this better? Are you simply saying that the program remembers where you left off? Or are you saying that if I have a named layout, it will automatically save changes mad to that saved layout when I close the program?

What I would really like is: (hopefully not too complicated to explain).
1. Start Logos
2. Home Page comes up
3. click on Home Icon (upper left corner)*
4. my last layout comes up, where I left off, with all the books I had open, and Bible Reading plan where I left off.
Would be great, wouldn't it? (it is a computer, after all that we're using) :-)

Aside from the home page coming up, this is what you'll get if you turn off the "show home page at startup" option—we don't get a lot of folks that want to see the home page and want to pick up where they left off when they start the app; however, if enough people ask for it, it might happen.

I am not experiencing this. When I close the program and re-open it, it is always where I left off.
However, if I open Layout "A", rearrange or close resources, then open Layout "B", reopening layout "A" reverts back to it's original layout, not the way I changed it. The only way I see to save a layout change is to manually update it through the menu and right-click. The only thing I see 'auto saving' is the last layout before closing.
