Greek Audio NT Question

Does this work with L4. I've read some posts where it does and others where it does not.
Thanks,
Ron

I'm a little confused as to what "this" is. If you mean can you have a Greek word pronounce then yes. Right click on the Greek word. If you pick Lemma and pick the pronounce on the left window you will hear the word pronounced. If you are asking if you can have the "Read" function read the Greek Bible text like it does the English then the answer is no, at this time. It is a bit humorous to listen for a short time though. Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I'm referring to Greek Audio New Testament resource.

According to this post - yes it works in L4: Greek Audio New Testament <http://community.logos.com/forums/t/18545.aspx>
Though there may be a few issues, I was searching for a recent post and can't find it.

I have it, it works, it doesn't have the controls that exist in Logos 3. It doesn't show the location as it reads all time either as I recall. It mostly just reads, and you control the speed through Windows Control Panel.

I have the Greek Audio New Testament. This is what I have learned from Logos technical.
It works somewhat, but not fully, in Logos 4. For example, the moving pointer (arrow or dot) that follows the text as it reads does NOT work in Logos 4. If someone is just beginning to learn Greek, this is a big deal. The Greek Audio New Testament has even more problems with Windows 7. It will not read all versions of the Greek NT in L4.
There are no plans to fix the problems this year. This is not clear from the advertisements, which is unfortunate. Logos offered me a refund, but I decided to keep the product, because it is still useful to me. I often run it in Libronix, where it works just fine.
With these problems, I still recommend it.

can you tell me where to control the speed in control panel? I am familiar enough with the greek that if it would just slow down a bit I can probably get it....
at least to help me read it myself....not translate but Im learning .....

At least in Windows 7 (I think Vista is the same) hit Control Panel/Speech recognition, then on the left pane click Text to Speech, then you will see a slider for faster-slower. XP probably has something similar.
If you are on 64 bit, you have to bring up the right version of the Speech applet - so from the Run menu under Start you type C:]Windows\sysWOW64\speech\SpeechUX\SAPI.cpl

The moving pointer seems to be working fine for me (under 4d SR1) - just like the bouncing sing-along ball in those old fashioned musical cartoons.

Well, it works for me, and it bounces along with each word. It seems to work for some people, and not others, from what I've read.
I have Logos 4.1 Beta on Windows Vista 32 Pro.

Thanks for all the input. I took Greek 20+ years ago in college and want to relearn what I've forgotten. I'll probably purchase it today.

Greek Audio works great in L4. The ball bounces at each word. There are some differences that I have been able to determine so far between L3 and L4. I cannot adjust the speed of reading and there is not a box to type the verse where I want to begin reading.

Check earlier in this thread for instructions on how to use Control Panel to change speed of reading.
FWIW, on my system the ball does not bounce on each word, it goes away after the reading starts. This is both on my laptop and desktop, both are 64 bit I wonder if that's why? Anyway, without the bouncing ball for me it's a much less valuable tool as I don't know Greek well enough to follow on my own.

I'm not at all sure you can change the speed of the human Greek NT narration, only the synthesised English voices.
I don't get a bouncing ball either on any of my machines (all 64-bit Windows 7).

I don't get the bouncing ball either on my Windows 7 32bit Logos 4.0d SR-1. One of the reasons I keep Libronix 3.0 installed.

Has Logos acknowledged this as a bug/is it on the list to address at some point?

Jim,
I think the problem may be in Windows 7. I am just reporting what Logos techs told me, and my own experience.

Yes, they did to me on the phone when I contacted technical support. They got to back to me and said they would not have time to fix it this year, and offered a refund (which I declined.)

I have: XP Professional Build 2600.xpsp_gdr.100216-1514 (Service Pack 3)A very pleasant green bouncing ball works extremely well for me. I haven't tried to adjust the speed, and won't be trying it; however, I am very much pleased with the function as it works for me.

Yes, they have acknowledged this. Kent Hendricks wrote: "We're aware of these issues and we're working on them." (see that thread and scroll up above his post to see what other issues they're aware of with regard to the Audio NT).
