How Many Downloads with Beta 4?
My computer has downloaded updates for the third time after leaving it running all night to complete the indexing. After downloading and installing, the indexing starts all over again. Are there three downloads for this update or am I incurring a bug?

It sounds like a bug to me, but not one that I ever saw when testing the upgrade to Beta 4 on various computers. If you click the question mark in the upper-right of the program, then select "About Logos Bible Software", what version is displayed? It should say "Beta 4 (4.0.2.9821)". If it says something else, you should run http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe to force an upgrade to the correct version.

Thanks for the response. I have the correct Beta on my machine. It is reindexing as I am writing this. On my other computer, it downloaded the update and reindexed. When I came into the office there was an update notice in the lower left corner of the screen. I clicked on it and it began to download about 54 megs of material and it is doing fine.

I updated everything last night and let it complete. Then I shut down L4 and opened it this morning. It told me I had updates waiting. I updated and it told me to wait a while. In just a few minutes L4 loaded and the indexer icon no longer appears in the system tray.
At least indexing seemed much faster this time.
Forgot to mention, I got an error message saying that there was a problem with the installation. I clicked OK and the installation continued.

Good Morning Bradley --
I've had two installs on one machine, only one on another that I know of and I'm about to do an install on my third machine. However, on the machine with two installs, there were two distinct versions of L4B4 that were installed (according to Help | About). And, when I tried to force a second install last night, using the link you provided, it said all was well and that I was up to date. However, there was still that second install this morning with a different iteration.

And how big is the resource download afterward?
When it finally started doing resource updates, it says it's working on a 1.9 Gb download! I'm so THANKFUL I don't have a download data cap!!!!!
That creates a bit of a concern for me... how is it going to accomplish this---if it's interrupted, does it start over? Will it pick up wherever it leaves off?
I'm not sure I can leave my laptop turned on long enough to swallow that big a download!
Is there any chance that we could package resource upgrades into MUCH smaller packages, & NEVER, NEVER attempt this big a download--unless it's VERY, VERY forgiving when interrupted?
THANKS!
Grace & Peace,
Bill

Bradley just announced that they've just released (today, still morning here in the Pacific Northwest) some updated resources. The total size is about 2.35GB, but some are getting smaller downloads, depending on what they have.
The download process is supposed to be smart enough to pick up where it left off, assuming it's using BITS. But there's never a guarantee about anything related to software doing what it's supposed to do.

I also seem to have a buggy Beta 4 install.
I downloaded and installed the Beta 4 update last night and went through all the indexing. I then noticed a new menu item "Updates". Opening it, I unchecked automatic updates and noticed the updater was telling me there were new updates available, including updates to the Biblical People and Biblical Things databases. I was out of time, closed 4.0 and when I reopened it today I checked Biblical People and it reported that data was missing. It would not generate any reports. The update icon also appeared in my Windows notification bar telling me there were updates available. So I dutifully told the updater to run the update. It has done so, installed the updates, and is now re-indexing my library. However Biblical People still has the same missing data notice as does Biblical Things. Logos reports it is operating on Beta 4 (just as before). I also no longer have the 'Updates' menu item (I think it was under Tools:Library.)
I am running Vista Business Edition on a computer with a 2 GHZ Core 2 Duo machine with 2 GB of RAM.

I run first update from B4 and then noticed in <tools | download> that I had over 1.0 gb of updated resources I could download. However, when I selected download, it downloaded the remaining 25 meg update for B4. When that was completed, it no longer shows a download menu in "tools".
Anyone know how I can get those updated resources?
Thanks

In Tools > Program Settings, check the "Automatically download updates" setting. (It's the first setting that is listed, but its name will probably be trimmed on most screens.) If this is set to "Yes", you will get the resources automatically. If this is set to "No", Logos 4 will display a "Download now" button if there are resources to download. Click this to start the download.
(These screens are still undergoing design review, so they may change in future betas.)

After a third update (and 1.9 GB of download), and a third re-indexing I have the Biblical People and Biblical Things databases back. Quite a process.
