Read Aloud feature

I am finding that the "Read Aloud" feature is not working smoothly.

If I highlight text, then select read aloud, I would expect it to read only the highlighted text. However, I find that what it reads is very inconsistent throughout different texts. In the ESV I think it reads the correct passage, but stutters between verse transitions because it is scrolling verse by verse, also causing linked resources to follow it as well. Is this an incomplete feature? or a bug?

it doesn't sound like it's acting buggy (as designed). Read aloud is designed to read a book, not just what you've highlighted.

In bibles in particular such as the ESV each verse is taken as a unit and is read as such. The true limitation is the operating system's (Whether Win or Mac) voice implementation.

As for delay's caused by scrolling linked resources, I would suggest if it drags your system too much that you unlink the resources.

I should clarify that when I say inconsistent I mean that in the ESV, it reads what it highlighted. But other books sometimes read what is highlighted only, May read only a portion and stop, and other times ignore what is highlighted and read another passage about the same length but not the exactly the same, sometimes partially overlapping. I guess what I am asking is what is the intent, so I can report whatever seems to be buggy. BTW when I say highlighted, I mean selected with the mouse, causing it to be blue.

Again, I think it may have something to do with versification. Is the behavior different among Bibles? Or is it different from Bibles to books?

Just to add that in my (Windows version) NAS and ESV it will read my highlighted verse and quit. If I partially highlight verse 3 and spill over into verse 4 it will read both full verses.

It appears to me then that regarding highlighting that the selection of text will only tell the reader which pericope to begin reading and to end in. But if you do not select text,it will begin at the top and just keep reading.

In the ESV, yes. However, in the Foundations of Pentecostal Theology, when I highlight a portion, it does not start where I highlight, but usually in the middle of another sentence several sentences or even paragraphs previous to what was highlighted. It does not start where I have highlighted, nor does it start even at the beginning of a sentence or paragraph. It is consistent, but without noticeable reason.

I just tested foundations in Windows, and it looks more like a milestone issue to me. (ie, the pericope milestones are way off base.)
