Help me please.

I am not fully satisfied with the entire library Search and Passage Guide, I prefer,
to arrange my library each book where it belongs, for e.g. Decionaries,theologies,commentaries
…(help me the rest to list ) ,so as to
be able to search .I have recently bought books I have tried to see them in the entire library
and other search methods, even though they were indexed, but they were none of
them in the list, now I think the best
way for me is to be able to search like I have mentioned.(of course they are in
my Library)

I need a solution for this, Please help me the best way you know,
which could be possible to me.It would be easier for me,if you could show me by steps and examples as well.I am very grateful for the help.

From your description it sounds as though you need to set up collections to group your books together.

There is a good article on how to set up collections at http://wiki.logos.com/Collections and some examples which people have created at http://wiki.logos.com/Example_Collections (with many of these you will be able to copy the definition and use it directly for your collections).

Once you have got collections sorted you can use them for searching and also to customise Passage Guides but that's the next step!

If I have misunderstood what you are looking for, please advise.

You ask a very good question Tes. To answer your question I believe best practice is to make collections.

If you don't mind I will direct you to the following wiki page which lists what you would need to know in terms of setting up your collections:

Once you have setup your collections you could use them in the basic search panel:

Also you can setup a custom passage guide using your collections. The following wiki page steps you through this process.

This gives a good outline shows you how to customize the guide - but I'll walk through a specific example of adding in a collection of books below. If I select the Passage Guide tool Logos will open a blank template

which I can then edit to produce the customised guide I want

In the passage guide editor you will see a range of things which allow you to add sections to the guide - you will see that "Collections" is highlighted

You can then drag the collections box to the right-hand side so that it will appear where you want it in your passage guide. For clarity I have put it at the top.

If you then click on the small arrow just to the right of "All Resources" in the collection box you see a list of collections (and other objects) which can be selected. I decided to choose the "Wright NT" one for illustration but it could be any of your collections.

This results in my passage guide being updated to use the "Wright NT" collection"

At this point, you could repeat the steps above as many times as you want to get all the collections you want included in the passage guide. You could also remove sections of the guide you don't want by clicking on the "x" to the right of the section.

You will see I have got rid of all of the others and named the guide "Wright NT PG"

When you are happy with your passage guide you can then close it down

To demonstrate using this I have selected the first five verses of John's gospel.

Right-clicking on these verses and selecting "reference" allows me to click on the "Wright NT PG" in the left-hand part of the pop-up as below.

When I run the Passage Guide I get results which just show books in the "Wright NT" collection

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

One further thing - if you call the passage guide you create "My Passage Guide" then this is the default one which will be used when you run a Passage Guide.

Do you believe that all your resources are indexed properly? (If you do a search for words that are in them, do you find them?)
Have you managed to create the collections you need?
Have you customised a passage guide to use these collections?
If yes to all of the above, can you explain what happens when you try and run this customized passage guide?

This happens when you install new resources, shouldn't stop you searching but results in hits being displayed in one of two places

Further down in this search I get a lot of results as shown below

I can then click expand a book and see the actual results as below:

currently, I am studying the epistle of Paul to the Romans,I Search by verses and words as well.I get results from the other resources.I have bought recently the essential collection,but no result of search was found from these books.

Ok, let's try this.

I assume by "essential collection" you mean the one from IVP.

Setup a collection for everything published by IVP - as below:

Click the Tools button and select Collection and then press the "New Tab"

Call the collection IVP (assuming you don't already have one of that name!) and enter the publisher field as shown below:

The books you end up with will depend on how many you have from IVP but will include the Essentials collection.

Then create a customised passage guide as we were discussing above and you should get something like this:

If you then select a verse in Romans in one of your translations, choose the reference and click on IVP PG that should run a passage guide on that verse just looking at your IVP books.

For me, this results in the hits below:
