I believe that I have seen the category LITERARY GENRE [like Divine Oracle] in a search analysis - but somehow I can't seem to find it again. Any suggestions?
Any suggestions?
I'm afraid not - it doesn't seem to be on the search fields list.
Divine Speech - Oracle is a Segment attribute in an AFAT Syntax Search.
Thanks, Dave. I found it earlier by searching AFAT with a Hebrew lemma and then turning on ANALYSIS. But I think they should make this available for Hebrew word searches from the ENGLISH text also.
I'm still not finding it as an attribute - could you post an example? I find it on mouse over in the text so I do know its there.
I doubt it will appear in the Reverse Interlinears. The AFAT text is tagged on the Context menu, but it is likely to remain as an advantage of Syntax Search and its databases without encumbering the text search Index.
Dave is right that the Reverse Interlinears do not have the Andersen Forbes Genres encoded in them and the AFAT syntax graphs do.
In addition to the syntax graphs, the AFAT (Hebrew Bible: Andersen-Forbes Analyzed Text) has them and you can view them in the popup or in the Analysis view if you enable the appropriate column.
If you want a visual filter showing what a particular genre is or if you just want temporary search results, here is an example syntax.
I figured the syntax out by using the right click menu and selecting Genre on the right hand side and then "search this resource" Notice that Basic Search is used above. I doubt that Bible search would support it, but I haven't tested it.
I hope this helped.
Thank you ... now I get it.
Great summary Kevin. I've added it as a favourite post.. I am sure I'll want a refersher on it at some poing in the future or want to direct someone to it. It's worthy of a Wiki Page (Hint )
Notice that Basic Search is used above. I doubt that Bible search would support it, but I haven't tested it.
I was going to church when I gave those very hurried answers so I'm glad Kevin expanded on the text capabilities of the AFAT Genre ie. a data type search like others where you can get the syntax from the Context menu "Search this Resource". It is also supported in Bible Search but, as mentioned elsewhere, I would prefer this to be a Bible Search by default.
