For the sake of other readers and those who are less familiar with how to use the advanced searching features of Google, I am adding a bit more detail:
1. Using Site: As Thomas indicated, this tells Google that your search is limited to the pages on that site. So, to search the Logos Forums, type your search terms followed by site:community.logos.com.
2. Using search operators: for instance, I searched google today as follows: collections +syntax +rule site:community.logos.com. This produced just a handful of hits (posts that have all three words). The "+" operator is the same as AND and the "-" operator is the same as NOT.
3. Using the Show options functionality: Once you have results, there will be above the first hit a "show options" link that allows you to reveal or show options. The most useful options are the ability to limit your search to a date range (for instance, Logos 4 discussions really only picked up in the last 2 weeks of October) and visited pages if you want to find that post you read and can't remember where it was.

Risk of a shameless plug here. But relevant I think......I created a pluggin for firefox that will go in your search menu to search the forums or the wiki.

Is there a way to modify the src file to force Mozilla to open the search results in a new tab? This is just a preference of mine.
Actually it's a setting in Firefox.....
- Open a blank tab and type about:config in the address bar.
- In the filter box type browser.search.openintab.
- Double click the false in the value column to change it to true.
- From now on every search in every search engine (using the built in box) will result in a new tab.
- IF you want to open results in the same tab your on, just click the magnifying glass
after entering your search term and voilà your results will open in the existing tab.

One more bonus:
Whatever your selected search engine is, will appear on your right click menu in firefox when you select a word/phrase and right click, and now the results will open in a new window. [y]

One quick option is to install the freebie Google toolbar. One button is for searching the current site. You might have to go into the settings to make the button display.

Any chance that this could easily be adapted to Safari, since it now does plug-ins too? I think it's originally created with the same open-source base (maybe)?

I've not been able to load any Firefox plug-ins in Safari. Apple has a different way of doing things. Check out this page: http://extensions.apple.com. (Remember that Safari, like Firefox is cross-platform.)
