Differences in Paragraphing

I have
noticed across different books and particular Calvin’s Institutes that when I
compare the paragraph insertions between my hard copy and the Logos 4 copy that
the Logos 4 has significantly less paragraphs. Also, there are other
formatting issues such as capitalizations, underlining etc.

I don't
want to be critical but, in general, when I compare one of my hard copies to
the same book in Logos it appears that the formatting is different and that
there is less formatting in the Logos version. Simply said, the quality in
the Logos 4 books is not up to the quality in my hardcopy books.

Sorry, which edition of Institutes in Logos are you referring? The translation by Allen, Beveridge, or Norton?

Part of the problem is that there are multiple printings and multiple editions of each of translation -- though Beveridge is generally the most common in print.

Just curious: what edition of Calvin Institutes do you have in hard copy? What is the copyright date on it?

I have John Allen's edition in hard copy and it has long paragraphs. It's copyrighted 1936, so it has an older style of formatting also.

Perhaps some of the issues you raise are because they used an older edition? The John T. McNeil edition from 1960 has shorter paragraphs and much nicer formatting.

The McNeill edition is a newer translation (by Ford Lewis Battles). It's not Logos' fault
that the formatting in their edition isn't the same as your hard copy. Logos would love to produce the
McNeill-Battles edition, but the publisher hasn't allowed them to yet. Three translations are available in Logos (Beverage, Allen, and Norton), and they will all have different formatting.
