The 2004 update of Tyndale's New Living Translation was a major improvement, and I'm thankful Logos makes it a part of their base packages, but is there any work being done to bring the 2007 update that beefs up the footnotes?  I would also be interested in having the latest NLT Study Bible in Logos 4 and am hesistant to purchase the 2004 text with 2008 study commentary if a new one comes available soon.  Thanks for the consideration!

Well that's still the 2004 edition of the NLT text and the 2008 notes but Tyndale has released a 2007 edition of the NLT text since then and then released another edition of the study bible.  I know chasing editions could be like chasing one's tail but I thought at least the 2007 NLT text might be important enough.

Interesting, did not know that. Thanks for the info.

Edit: I can't find the new released edition of the study bible on Amazon.

Hi Paul, if you look at the PDF here, you can compare the 2004 text to the 2007 text. The text in Logos is clearly the 2007 text. There are two issues here:

    1. the 2007 text is not a new edition. The changes between 2004 and 2007 were not considered significant enough to call it a third edition.
    2. Logos apparently has not updated the metadata to include 2007 in the copyright information yet.

So again, you should already have the 2007 text of the NLT. It just doesn't say that its the 2007 text.

Michael you just made my day.  Thank you for looking that up!

I just bought a slimline reference paper version of the NLT and took it back because it had a spelling error in Gal. 6:1.  I'm so glad I still have a digital copy!

Thanks a lot for the link.  However when I checked the 1st verse on the Tyndale pdf it appears that Logos currently has a mixture of the 2004 & 2007 text.

This is what I have in Logos for Genesis 1:14:

Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years.

Here is what the Tyndale pdf file has for the 2004 text:

Then God said, “Let great lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them mark off the seasons, days, and years.

And here is what the Tyndale pdf has for the 2007 text:

Then God said, “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years.

So if you take a look at the Logos text it has the 2007 text at the beginning of the verse and the 2004 text at the end of the verse.  I hope this gets sorted out soon so that it is entirely the 2007 text with the correct copyright information.

    Jeff,

Was there any news on what version of NLT we have here in Logos as some of the '04/'07 updates are present and others not

    Paul,

I don't have anything to report.  There has not been any revision to the NLT in Logos as far as I  know.

Also it was Michael who said that he would ask around about this.  So the question for Michael is has he any news.

any chance for a full NLT 2007 update for Logos in 2011?  I'm going to send e-mails to both Logos and Tyndale again to see what's up.  I'm really digging the latest version of the NLT after the scholarly firepower they added to the team.  The complete update is important!

So I noticed there was a resource update for the NLT version of the Bible.

It is now updated with the full 2007 version update as well as the clarifying footnotes.

This is really great!  Thank you so much Logos and Tyndale!!  Great work!
