It is now past 60%. There seems to have been a sudden burst of enthusiasm. Come on Logos, time to put this one on the Blog.
After reading this blog post on Community Pricing, I maxed out my bid.
After reading this blog post, I maxed out my bid.
Levi - That is a great post from the past by Phil Gons. Thanks for refreshing it.
You're welcome, I should have said more in my post.
What Phil Gons pointed out was basically that Community Pricing is counter-intuitive. We naturally want to bid for the lowest price, but it doesn't work the best that way. The more people who bid higher, the lower the price is driven for everyone. Since you can cancel your bid at any time, even afterwards when it goes pre-pub, there's no reason not to just max out your bid!
I read that blog a little while ago, but didn't do anything afterwards. I've now pushed my Community pricing bids up to the maximum. Once community pricing offers get close to 100% the price always drops dramatically anyway.
Barnes has become a bit of a landmark on the Logos website!
Even when it goes a watermark may remain.[:D]
When a bid is placed on a community resource or especially if a resource has enough bids but they are all or mostly too low, can you send an email stating the pitfalls of low bidding and the protection that they can always with draw the bid at the last minuets.
With Barnes it might be a good idea for Logos to email those who placed low bids. It's been such a long time that they may have forgotten and the recent trend upward should be a good motivator. Perhaps Logos could email all with a range of options:-
I've noticed that the $25 position has been on a consistent rise as of late but the high mark really hasn't moved...
I thought this thread was going to be about Mark Barnes switching to Accordance
Where is Mark Barnes? I don't think I've seen any posts from him for quite some time.
EDIT - Nevermind, I went and checked his activity and he has been posting. I hadn't noticed that he his avatar has changed.
Perspective on Barnes - August 2010(a monthly pre-publication of the Logos General Users Forum)
- Relatively speaking, the past month may have been the most progress Barnes has seen in years. According to Lynden and Andrew's posts (July 15 & August 13) there has been approx. 10% interest gathered at the $30 high mark with increased movement at $25 as well.
- If a child was born when Barnes was first offered on CP (Feb. 2005) said child would now be 5 1/2 years old. Soon they would also be able to enjoy Barnes! ...or at least read it aloud
- Barnes died December 24, 1870 at 72 years old. It is estimated that his Notes on the New Testament reached over a million volumes in print shortly before his death
- Although we refer to it as Barnes' Notes, James G. Murphy, a professor of Hebrew - Belfast, made many contributions to the Old Testament Notes in the resource
My son was born in Feb. 2005! He started kindergarten yesterday.

In the next issue it would be interesting to hear about the rumored watermark that Barnes will make on the Community Pricing Page when it moves to Pre-publication status. [:)]
Between issues can we give a bit of a post-vacation push to Barnes to bring it to the notice of more people? I would be wonderful to see it going in Pre-publication.
ha sure, I was just going to see how many I could post before it moved
Has it posted on the Logos Facebook page recently?
What's Facebook?
Umm...I can't tell if you're serious or joking: http://www.facebook.com/BibleSoftware
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook
I have genuinely never been there. I use the internet for work not for pleasure. Of course, I've heard of it and also Twitter but have no interest in going there.
Of course, I've heard of it
OK. Your question sounded like you'd never heard of it, which I thought was strange since it's been all over Logos' advertising and promotions recently.
The other advantage of using Facebook is that some specials are only posted there. We have been not to repost these offers - though we can post links to the LOGOS' Facebook page.
I'll go check to see if anyone has beaten me to it and if not we can start something
Ok I posted on the Logos Facebook wall with a nice little link and picture. Make sure to "like it" and maybe post a supporting comment or two! [:D]
I am not seeing it as of yet - could you post a link to your Facebook post?
I can see it Floyd: http://www.facebook.com/BibleSoftware
Yep - I can now see through your link and when going directly to the LOGOS Facebook page. Thanks.

You look much different in your Facebook picture than you do here. Which is more recent?

It thought Paul looked different also Todd.
ha why yes, yes it is. I'm the one with more facial hair in that facebook picture though (not as pretty). My goal is to have a full head of hair and no gray when we see Barnes go into production!!! [:P]

Well, I'm not THAT good. I do have solitaire on mine.
have no interest in going there.
I went there for a few weeks, but then found the Logos Forums to be more informative and entertaining. [8-|]
So it took less than a day for the Facebook post to drop off the first page while it seems thousands of fans have been added to the Logos facebook fan page. I assume most are waiting for the chance to win all the cool stuff.
In the mean time, I'm noticing the $20 and $25 mark still rising. If we could just have all those people jump on $30 and then we all move down together! [:D]

Agreed Paul
Just a link to save time finding the resource:

It's obvious they don't get it! Come on Logos send an email to these guys ...

When it goes on pre-pub for $50 and your currenlty bidding $25 there's a chance youl'll say what the heck and order it so why not bump up your order to $50 now and changes are you end-up only paying $30!
It's time to get this thread and more importantly Barnes on the Move again.
Woukld anyone like to make the weekly facebook post on the Logos Facebook wall? I believe they've gained a couple thousand users since the last post. I find that adding a picture causes it to really stand out too. If no one makes it after an hour I'll go ahead and post one. And lets make sure we comment on it and direct people to the CP page!

Go for it!
Looks as if it has fully reached the 70% mark now and perhaps a bit beyond.
sorry for the lateness... posted on the facebook page. Lets drum up some talk there under the post!
Sorry but it just isn't going anywhere lately. This has been in this range for a while. Maybe if it gets to 80% then we can start to get excited.
well Lester the way we look at it is if we don't get excited about it now it will never reach 80%. Once it hits 80% CP's usually start to move on their own. Now I'm counting on your excitedness when we get Barnes to 80% ok?! [:)]
Paul - the post looks nice. Thank you for taking the time. I, too, would like to see this one move on to PrePub - and sooner rather than later.
I believe the old rusty cogs that are Barnes have come alive again!
I say we ride this wave all the way home. If anyone has an interesting or explanatory comment to add on the Facebook wall please comment. Does anyone think we could beat the L4 Mac release? [:D]

I'm excited Paul, Lets get Barnes on the Pre-pub page before the MAC goes gold....
I'd like to see Logos promote Barnes on their daily blog.
I'm in for Barnes at $35. I had Barnes in "another program" that I used for years before purchasing Logos and found him to be well worth consulting as I prepared to preach. Hopefully, it will keep moving.
Just posted a note on Logos Facebook Page. Let's see if this can make a difference.
So how many volumes of EEC will be released before Barnes goes Gold ?
