Please spare a thought for international customers!

As a Windows user, I am delighted for my Mac brothers and sisters with the announcement of the gold release for the 1 October 2010.
It is just a pity that those of us based outside of N. America don't get to join in the party
This is slightly tongue-in-cheek, but it would be good if Logos found someway of including international customers in the competitions... Particularly given it seems there are a growing number of us

It's good to see that the Netherlands made it on place six. [pi]

Provided we get to win it [:P] I agree it would be nice Andy. But then in another sense we are winners simply because we have found and use Logos Bible Software and as a the icing and cherry on top of the cake we have these forums.

That is absolutely true... but wouldn't the forums be a whole lot nicer on a fancy new MacBook Pro... [;)]

Certainly would.....[H] I'd switch to the other side if I had a fancy new MacBook Pro.... of course I could always use BootCamp to run Windows 7 on it....[6]

The competition is restricted to North America to compensate the poor souls who have to live there! [;)] [;)]

Now, that's a nice approach, I like it [Y]
P.S. Nothing against a nice new MAC Book Pro of course [;)]

We do have days without rain here! [:D] I fondly remember Greenock. The US Navy tested any new winter uniforms there. [8-|]

Jack,
You're absolutely right. The west of Scotland is for people born with webbed feet. However, on the Moray Firth Riviera we only get about 19" of rain per year. The climate is equable – never too cold and never too hot. The population density is lower. The crime rate is practically non-existent. It's such a blessing just being able to live here that obviously we don't require any compensations. [ip] [:D] [;)]

In that case, we could probably help out by sending a few of our very best criminals to help get that rate up where is should be. [8-|]

Yes Andy, even though I am at number 24, would still like to party.

Britain sent us, the very best of their criminals to the Great South Land [:D] a couple of hundred years ago.

as Albania combines poverty with an abundance of all too competent criminals, maybe that's why they won't send me a nice new Mac here.....[:(] But it is frustrating to see we're OK to pay for Logos' excellent services, but not to have a chance to win their exciting prizes - thou shalt not covet thy richer neighbour's chances......

You want the unvarnished truth - or what I think is the truth having no actual knowledge to back it up [*-)] Given the complexity of the laws for contests which vary from state to state, I suspect that the legalities for international contests simply becomes impractical. Obviously, if you want the contest to be in your country, you should have built the software before the Logos crew did.[:P]

That would be the correct answer. It's hard enough just to mail a disc to some countries; we're terrified of accidentally committing some kind of lottery/sweepstakes/financial-fraud violation. I want my international travel to be unrestricted by the threat of prison! :-)

I can personally guarantee that if I won a macbook pro from Logos and they sent it to me, I wouldn't tell any authorities.[A]

I take your point, but I fear you forget that 'this sceptred isle, this earth of majesty... this other Eden' (by which I mean the UK) begraced the colonies with the gift of the English language [;)].
We do not, however, accept responsibility for the subsequent perversion of our mother-tongue (by which I refer you to American-English)...[:P]

Just caught your response Bob. I always thought that was the case. Within a country their can be different laws and permits that need to be negotiated across state boundaries so international boundaries would cause serious headaches. And as much as we would all like a shiny new MacBook Pro we don't want it to cost you a prison term .....although some solitary confinement with a shiny new MacBook Pro loaded with Logos 4 for MAC for a period of time does have its appeals.

I thought I read somewhere that New Englanders have kept the accent closer to the way it was back when we split off from the mother land than the Brits have. Tried to find some documentation of that but closest I could come was this intriguing thread: http://www.city-data.com/forum/general-u-s/988890-american-accent-closer-english-accent.html. There's also an interesting documentary AMERICAN TONGUES which you can find in snippets on YouTube.

Thanks for your answer Bob. What about allowing all and sundry to enter once they provide a U.S. address. Many persons have U.S. addresses that they ship to. Just wanna play.
