4.1 Beta 9 Export of Passage Analysis 'Diagrams'

If you select the fit picture to frame option regardless of the diagram type or the printer driver chosen, or the size chose on the left hand side, the image is cut off.

If you unselect fit picture to frame, then regardless of the diagram type of size chosen you get a large gap of space above and below the diagram exported as part of the image. I tried this with Send to OneNote, SnagIt 9 Driver as well as standard printer. Some examples screen shots with the extra white space highlighted yellow.

And in following screen shot you can see effect of this extra white space in the image.

As a comparison when I choose send to PowerPoint for same diagram only the actual diagram is included in the text

A similar thing happens while trying to print the Bible Word Study report.

If you bring up the Print/Export dialog instead, from panel menu or Ctrl+P, choosing "Print as exported" or "Print as shown on screen," and save to XPS, etc. do you get the results you want?

No this do not bring the desired results.

'Print as show on screen' results in a large amount of extra white space around th diagram. (Not what I would be expecting)

'Print as exported' results in printing a one page report complete with header and footer information. (This is what I would expect and useful for scenario if I wanted to print something off to discuss with my bible study group (since I don't own a laptop to take Logos with me).

What I would expect to get for right click print option or the 'Print as show on screen' is just for the diagram only to be printed/exported just as occurs with Send to PowerPoint. Lets say I am writing a paper on a topic, I would not want all this extra white space taking up half the page, or I am producing a handout in One Note (as Logos 4 handouts don't currently don't have the option to include this sort of output) for a bible study, once again all I would really want was the diagram itself and not the extra white space.

Save as File: RTF or Image give what I would be expecting and allow for the scenarios I just described. And so does Right Click Copy.....

However does not negate the original issue of how is this option of any practical value:

I appreciate this is the first beta on this option so expect issues but just hope this was not the intended outcome.

I agree that 'Fit picture to frame' in the Print Pictures dialog does not work for the images in Passage Analysis, since the image is cut off. I'll report that and your request for less white space in the resulting image will be considered.

This dialog is designed to print to a printer; the image is centred on the page, so there will be margins around it.

If you're not actually printing to a printer, and just want a cropped image, simply choose Copy instead of Print on the context menu when right-clicking the diagram.

Copy command:

This image that's copied to the clipboard can be pasted into OneNote, Paint, or any other image editing program.

Ok, I'll let you guys off the hook on the design of the dialog. Is there a way though to set the default so that Fit to Frame is not selected when the dialog opens as I really can't see anyone wanting to print one of these diagrams using one of these options (Unless they are doing an Abstract Art Project) I think its more likely to cause confusion (well at least it has for one [:$] - I tend not to think of printing straight to paper but adding value to what I am working on before printing it)

I reviewed the documentation; there does not appear to be any way to set the initial options.

Thanks for checking it out Bradley. Despite some of the quirkiness I appreciate that we have printing and exporting features. [:)]
