Please complete your bios!

Sometimes I want to find out more about a poster in the forums (denomination, clergy or laity, etc.). If everyone who reads this could take a moment to add a brief bio to their profile it would facilitate this. And, I think there may be others beside me that would be interested.

Just out of curiosity, Thomas, I had the impression that the conversations on the forums were about Logos software, not about distinctions (laity, clergy, denomination, et cetera). If you give me a good reason, I will do it.

I think in reality we should keep it completely volunteer but maybe formally encourage it or make the bios section inadvertantly useful in some other section of Logos. There's got to be some way to not force it yet make it the "cool" thing to do... [&]

Plenty of the "cool" people already have bios. But many people are understandably wary about posting any personal info in a public site that the whole world has access to and that is indexed by Google. We live in interesting times. The boundaries between what used to be considered private and what is now considered public knowledge about a person are fuzzy and are continually being pushed further in the direction of more public exposure. Some people rightfully are trying to hang on to the older ways of privacy and we shouldn't make them feel uncool for doing that.

I am someone who values his privacy very highly. FWIIW I have never used Facebook or Twitter and always tick "don't disclose my info" when I complete forms online or on paper. Yet I completed my bio on Logos, for two reasons:

So that people (developers and others) will know "where I am coming from" (both from a Logos usage POV and personal angle) when I post.
To flag up my little corner of the Lord's vineyard.

However, I completely understand that others may prefer not to do this. I feel labels like clergy/laity, academic, etc. unhelpful except where it helps to aid understanding about how a person is using the software.

Lol, only important bit of my bio is written in the Book of Life, and by Gods grace it says "Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb".. All else is meaningless.. and temporal, not saying we shouldnt be the best we can be in the position God has placed us, but its all about glorifying Him, not us..
