Why isn't WBC available on the iPhone?

I don't think any books from Thomas Nelson Publishers are available on the iPhone or mobile web.

Ironic--since they've been an important Logos partner in the past.

Do you know if it is a copyright issue or are we just waiting for Logos to do it?

Logos has said in the past they want all the resources in their library available on the iPhone, but because it's a different delivery system, all their licenses with each publisher had to be redone. They said they contacted all of the copyright holders at the beginning of the year to request an update to the content licenses. Most publishers have responded, though some of them only allowed a portion of their resources to be available on the iPhone (IVP is one, I think).

Considering that none of Nelson's books are available yet, I would guess that it's Nelson that's balking at the change.  Either they want greater licensing fees than Logos is willing to provide or they have some other arrangement that prevents that kind of licensing or they just haven't decided to commit yet because they want to leave their options open to other ebook formats (but that's all conjecture).

I don't know any more than what Logos has shared here in the forums.

I've been thinking about buying two things:

    1) An iPad, so that I can read more of the many books I have in Logos

    2) WBC.

Given I wont be able to read (2) on (1), then I think I wont buy WBC at this time. Maybe Nelson does not really want some of my money, or for me to read their products?

Besides, if I cancel or don't buy any Nelson products, I'l be better able to afford (1).

    This is an old thread.

WBC has become available on the iPhone since it was posted, as have many (most?) other Nelson products.  Here's a thread talking about WBC availability: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/21709/162757.aspx. The some of revised volumes don't seem to be available on the iPhone.

Now you can't decide what to buy again. [:D]

    Thanks Todd.

It seems we can't trust the information on many of the product pages, when it documents if it can be accessed by iPhone/iPad, or if its included in some package or bundle.

I REALLY WISH that the products were all loaded into a master database, with flags for all such things, that we could look up or search via the Logos web site. The current products pages are a great disapointment given how easy this should be to get right!!!

Keep in mind that the Logos website is undergoing a redesign. The current architecture probably relies heavily on manually editing pages, making it easy for things to fall through the cracks. I would be absolutely stunned if the new one doesn't have an appropriate structure to make these issues go away.

That would be great. I can think of five different ways such a database would help me.

The current pages are not at all disappointing but could be even better. But I am not convinced it is "easy" to change it all. It will take a team to do it and a full-time editor to maintain it.
