Handouts still Horrible in β4

So I popped open a handout I'd created before which I had forced down to about three items (Don't ask me how I can't repeat the process now). I added a verse reference and immediately a few crossword puzzles get added to the mix. Fine, but I don't want the answers. So I uncheck the answers and they pop to the bottom of the list and get added back on!

Maybe it's a bug in the old handout.

Create a new handout >> type in my passage (1 Peter 1:22-2:3) It populates with several itterations of word finds and the text. YAY at least the completely worthless and random links to people unrelated and unmentioned in the passage are gone.

So I begin to customize. This is a handout, not an answer sheet so I attempt to turn off the answers for the (Several) wordfinds. They keep coming back! The only way to get rid of them is a workaround which means I make blank sections.

Let me say this very clearly: Handouts are completely worthless if I can't turn things off! I don't care that I can bump them out of the way, they need to be OFF and they should be off by default. I should have a blank page on the right with a series of available "click this box to add me" stuff.

And when I click a box, it should add, when I unclick a box it should go away. When I click more than will fit on a page, expand to another page. But don't make me force a workaround by adding blank sections. That's a kludge not a solution.

I finally did it!

I managed to create a handout for my study tonight using the handout interface. But it was HORRIBLE in every sense of the word.

It was slow, every change felt like I was clicking in slow motion, every modification took from 5-25 seconds to generate. That may not seem like much but I had to keep changing the settings, spacing and so forth in order to get it all on one page.
Having finally forced, finagled and fussed the thing into compliance I hit print, and I CANNOT print it. I have the settings to: Sheet,Letter,Single Side but when I print it's asking for duplex (for a single side paper!) which is not set up on my printer. So my printer complains "Duplex option not attached" and I cannot print my handout that took me over an hour to complete. [8o|]
(Printer=Konica Minolta Magicolor 5430 DL This is a SOHO class network, color laser printer.)
So I begin fighting with the default print settings: Duplex and booklet printing is OFF. Pagelayout is Letter, portrait, Tray one, plain paper, In other words, every setting is exactly the same for any other program I print with. But I cannot print because handouts are apparently designed to print [only] on a duplex printer.

I finally had to force a work around by printing to an XPS image document, and then print it from the XPS viewer.

There's still a long way to go before handouts are usable.

Great idea, poor implementation so far.

I agree, the handouts have come a long way but there are definitely still issues.

When this gets polished I think it will be a real usable feature.

I did not think we were allowed to use them for a study (during closed beta), or did you mean just for your personal study?
