Place your bets now: How many builds of 4.1 will there be before release?

I'm a pessimist and reckon it's going to be a long beta cycle, and am going to plump for 20 builds: 16 betas + 4 release candidates, with a final release date of 20 September. What do you guys think?

I think the Print/Export stuff is going to take a while to bed down!
Lots of different options and lots of different parts of the application that need to support this new thing.
I like what I see so far, and the power will be nice once its more finished.
Already, I notice that from a Resource, we seem to be able to Print, but not freely Copy/Export. I would guess this is a Copyright / License issue. It would be nice if this was documented, and if maybe there was a clean way that the disabled portions could give some hints. I expect this to create MANY questions over the next little while.
Q: "Why can't I export Romans 3 from my ESV to an RTF file?" etc ...

I'd guess 18 builds: 15 betas and 3 RCs. But I agree this will probably be a pretty long Beta, a lot more news stuff here than in 4.0c (and that doesn't include Logos rolling out any new features in subsequent betas like they have in the past.).

None of the other post release beta cycles have gone that long. But considering the addition of features like diagramming and printing Plus I believe the intent is to add even more of the "missing" features the move to a new .# for release is well earned so I'm going to forecast:
- 14 beta's
- 4 rc's
- Late October Release (tagline: "Reform your Bible Study"
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Well I'm sure Martha and Damian can handle it. You could be right about others among us though. Just imagine the fun! [:D]

Lutherans among us would be happy with an Oct 31 (Reformation Day; 95 Theses Day) release! And it would be a swell birthday present for me, however I'd really like to see it released earlier and already be on to some 4.2 beta stuff with PBB and whatever else major is still to come.

We'll retaliate with a major update on Counter-Reformation Day a.k.a. Re-Reformation Day.
(Another important day which those guys in the Vatican left out of the liturgical calendar [:(])

I'm hoping we'll see some more "Missing features" in 4.1, though probably not PBB.

Does that mean Logos is going to revamp the way it does tiles on Counter-RenovationReformation Day? [:)]

Looking good, Mark! Others were closer on number of betas but not date.

As the number of releases has crept up, I've been keeping this thread in the back of my mind. With the RC being pushed out today we will see how good of prognosticators we all are. [:D]
Perhaps we should preemptively start whining for 4.1a [;)]

I was wondering whether it's going to be called 4.1a or 4.2. I'm guessing it's going to have the next big missing feature item which is vocabulary lists and word lists. I'm not sure what "video resources" means -- they've already shipped one ("Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew...") and have another in pre-pub (discourse grammar). Maybe it means they'll put in the functionality to watch those videos right from within Logos. Sounds like some pretty major stuff, so it might warrant a 4.2 designation.

Some books had videos embedded/included in the resource file. I assume that "Video resources" refers to these specifically and not the Learn Biblical Greek and Discourse vids.

Video resources would refer to the following:
The Greatest Book http://www.logos.com/products/details/1908
Apologetics: Defending the Faith: http://www.logos.com/products/details/2840
The True Christian's Love for the Unseen Christ http://www.logos.com/products/details/2951
The Good Steward: http://www.logos.com/products/details/2957
2 Sides of the Same Coin http://www.logos.com/products/details/3337
Workman Approved by God http://www.logos.com/products/details/2474
In LLS days there were also some resources built around a textbook, workbook and accompanying video and audio material. I have asked for clarification from Logos if they intend to bring these over to L4 but never hand an answer back. These include:
Living by the Book:
Personal Holiness in Times of Tempation
And Introduction to NT Greek (This is still available for purchase http://www.logos.com/products/details/1065 and I think is a good pre-req to the Learning to Use set to get the basics of Greek and general grammar for those who don't want to go into indepth greek but want to exploit fully what Logos offers)

In case your wondering what these look like some screen shots of the Greatest Book Set. And if you double-click on the media player video opens in full screen
You can use table of contents to go to a specific section of the Video and even use bookmarks to bookmark a particular point of interest in the video.
Notes can't be attached directly to them though.. hoping the L4 upgrade will allow for adding notes.

Interesting, Jim. It didn't allow me to print or export that one chapter, either. It had a message, something like "Export only from this window" but it exported a blank doc. However, I tried it later, after closing L4 and opening it again, and it worked.
