ESV Study Bible and text

I thought the ESV Study Bible was supposed to have the Bible text integrated into the notes ("Unlike previous study Bible resources which do not include the Bible text, this ESV Study Bible is coupled with the full text of the ESV Bible.). What I'm seeing isn't any different to any other study Bible.

For example, "3:1–24 The Couple Rebels against God. The sudden and unexplained arrival of a cunning serpent presents a challenge of immense importance to the human couple. Their choice is to disregard God’s instructions, an act of willful rebellion that has terrible consequences for the whole of creation. As a result, God’s creation is thrown into disorder, with chaotic effects that result from the disruption of all the harmonious relationships that God had previously established.

They never said the ESV text would be integrated into the notes. That text you quoted said it is coupled with the ESV text, which means it comes with it, not that they're integrated into one resource. If you bought the product ESV Study Bible, it comes with two separate resources: ESV text and ESV Study Bible Notes. You'll see the two files under "Download Book Files." The text after the piece you quoted goes on to say: "If you already have a copy of the ESV, you can purchase the ESV Study Bible Notes—without the Bible text." So, assuming that you have both files now: ESV text and ESV Study Bible Notes, you can link them together to scroll in tandem by setting them both on the same Link Set:

The first thing I did when I got my new ESV SB Notes (I already had the ESV text itself from my base package) was link them together like this and save that as a Layout called "ESV Study Bible" so now I can open them together like that any time I want.

What is the difference then between doing this and linking the NASB with MacArthur's NASB Study Bible. In other words what they meant by different to any other Study Bible is that you could buy them both in one product instead of two orders. Why didn't they just say that? In the DTV I don't think you have to have the notes in one book and have a Bible open as well. To me, that was a very misleading statement, and it wasn't as if clarification wasn't asked for during development.

Logos said this was the first time a Logos user could buy the notes separately from the Bible translation instead of paying for both (hence two pre-pubs; 1 with ESV Bible and 1 without) The ESV guys and Logos were willing to gives those a break who already owned the ESV Bible.

I'm pretty sure they made this clear on e-mails and blog posts as well. At least I always understood it that way.

Also in a program like Logos having a notes resource next to a Bible translation instead of on top of or "integrated in" is actually closer in real life to a real Bible with notes underneath. This allows you to link your NASB, NKJV, The Message, or any other translation to the ESV notes as well.

As I use the study notes I'm finding its just better the way it is in Logos

Also in a program like Logos having a notes resource next to a Bible translation instead of on top of or "integrated in" is actually closer in real life to a real Bible with notes underneath. This allows you to link your NASB, NKJV, The Message, or any other translation to the ESV notes as well.

It also allows you to arrange the notes and Bible text either horizontally or vertically, whichever you prefer. If it were built in to the resource window, it would either have to be footnotes you hover over (so you couldn't see them at the same time as the text without hovering over each) or laid out on the page with the notes below. That would make resizing the window problematic, as it would re-wrap all the text and the notes might not be on the correct page anymore with the Bible text, etc. The way they did it, you can set your font and window size however you like for better readability, scroll around in the Study Bible notes (e.g., to read the longer introductory articles) while keeping the BIble text unscrolled if you like, or scroll them together in tandem. All around, it's just more flexible. I like it this way.

Sorry, I cannot agree with you Alex, Logos has never said anything misleading about the ESV Study Bible. The truth is they said very encouraging statement that ESV now is offered in a new way, that is for the first time you do not have to buy the Bible text again to have a Study Bible. (Quite different from the paper version, isn't it.) Before when you ordered the Study Bible, you had to pay for the Bible text whether you already had it or not. (see the example) That's the only difference. Quite nice one as far as us customers are concerned.
