GM: Window size

An odd regression, when I launch the program it opens in a small window, failing to remember the size I had previously set. This is a behavior present many versions ago, I don't remember when it was fixed. Odd to see it return.

Me too. It also reverts to the small window whenever I select a layout from the menu. [:^)]

It did this for me also. But I found a solution that worked for me:
1. Load a layout (the window is squished).
2. Resize window (Green button)
3. Update layout in the layouts menu.
4. Repeat for each layout.
After you update the layouts, they should open normally.

Interesting thing is that we weren't doing the right thing internally, which was respecting your window placement saved *in* the layout. We were just saving the last main window size regardless of what layout was open. Now we do respect what's in the layout; it's just that old layouts only ever had the default size saved to them. Now, if you simply update your layouts with the window sizes you desire, everything will work as expected. And all new layouts will do the right thing.

Thanks. I've done this and my layouts are all fine, but I start L4 up with the home page showing and this reverts to a small window each time.

Same here, the startup window is still small since it opens with the home screen rather than a saved layout.

Home Page window size possible fix:
* Launch to Home Page
* Resize window
* Customize Home Page - lower right
** Changing content (click something on/off) should cause Home Page refresh
* Quit
* Launch to Home Page - wonder about window size ?

This DOES work, but there is one important thing to note: When you resize the window, do not click the Maximize button. You must move and resize the window by dragging the lower-right corner. Maximizing a window does not change it's stored normal size. It's like a toggle.
EDIT: I spoke too soon. It only remembers the window position if you close Logos while the home window is displayed. If instead, like most people, you close Logos with some other layout activated, the Home window loses its default position and size. Definitely a bug.

Wonder about resizing Layout, then updating Layout - quit and open ?
Apologies - currently unable to replicate Home Page small - can replicate Layout changing size.

I have no idea this is very frustrating....I got it to open at proper size once then then next time i tried to open it back to the small screen at the bottom. I realize that you are having trouble tracking down this bug but the program was working perfectly before Gold so it shouldn't be too hard to track down what is causing this bug....

[I] When Logos opens with unexpected small screen size, quit Logos, and post Logos4.log file (suggest compressing file before posting).
Due to previous Alpha and Beta issues with opening previous layouts, my Home Page customization has "Show home page at startup" checked. If Home page has issues, have launched Logos then quickly pressed and held command key until Sign In appeared - released command key - check "Use blank layout" - click "Sign In".
Once Logos 4 open, can use Layouts menu for desired layout (if crash, know which layout is troublesome).
Also using desktop Mac (with stable network connectivity) - energy saver set to never sleep for computer while display sleeps after 20 minutes. For forum issue replication, often closing, opening, and resizing Logos 4 (for screen shots to post).
Hence, wondering if window size happens with something else (e.g. wake from sleep, laptop change networks, ...) ?
Observation: on Windows 7 laptop, do use sleep (and have recurring non-responsiveness for USB mouse - cannot wake from sleep and long delay before mouse usable).

Logos 4 opened. Window still small. Closed the program. Logos4.log file attached: 5277.Logos4.log.zip

I don't think logs would help much in this case; there is already a pretty good indication as to what has caused the problem, and I'm pretty sure Logos will get a fix out in the next release.

Same issue here. Started a couple of updates back. I still wish they would add a build number for identification purposes.
Here are the log files.

Daniel: are those logs from a crash? It appears that Logos 4 shut down normally.

Did you try re-saving your layouts as Tom suggested?

The build number is embedded in the version number, which you can find either in the about panel or on the top line of your log file.

David,
I've updated some of my layouts and when I switch to a layout it opens as it is supposed to. I've also messed with some of my home page settings and it is loading the sections it's supposed to. But when I start Logos I have it open to the home page, and it always opens in a small window:
Previously, it would open maximized. Now, it opens in a small window. There is a semi-workaround. Manually resize the window and it will remember the size you give it - usually. When I manually resize to fullscreen (or close to it), it defaults back to the small window shown above.

From your logs, you are not experiencing the same issues that others on this thread are experiencing. It appears that several files in your installation are corrupted and/or mismatched. The best course of action for you would be to delete everything in ~/Library/Application Support/Logos4 and start fresh. If you continue to have issues, please post in a new thread.

I never said it was crashing just that the window no matter what i try opens small all the time. I tried the solutions and for one launch it remained large. Then I couldn;t get them to open large again. It;s not the end of the world needing to resize when you open up but it is annoying, and seems pointless since it only just started doing this..

Chris Roberts, where can I get your snazzy wallpaper? [:)]

There are two known issues regarding window sizes (one with saved layouts, and another with opening the app directly to the home page). I believe both will be fixed in SR-1.

Thank you very much, I will let you know if there are any issues after that... and I apologize if I seemed snippy in my last post, I should stay away from the computer when I have a headache...
