Will x201 thinkpad work well for L4?

I thought I had ordered plenty of laptop with a lenovo x201 with 6 gigs of ram and 7200 speed hd and a core i7, but then I saw a post that said I need to get a seperate video card with memory. This order has intel hd graphics, integrated. Should I cancel the x201 (I wanted the small form factor and rugged construction) and get something different, or will this work well for L4? I have dells up to this point and the current one works well.

Any thoughts are appreciated and soon, as I can still change the order.

Michael,

No...you don't HAVE to...but Logos loves lots of video memory and usually "shared" vid memory translates to "less vid memory"

If you've got the bucks....go for it...I do fine with my integrated video (1 GB)...

But again...more horsepower is better usually.

the x201 thinkpad does not have an option for any graphics but integrated, so if it isn't enough I'll need to try to find a different laptop.

I have a thinkpad T400 with an ATI video card, but it can be switched to use to integrated (Intel) video instead (to save battery and heat). I tried that once and found that Logos was noticeably less responsive using the integrated video, so I quickly rebooted and switched back to the ATI video card. Having a dedicated 3D accelerated video card definitely gives Logos a boost.

I am writing this (literally) on the new HP Tm2t I5 tablet with ATI switchable graphics. I use L4, and have several thousand resources. I tend to keep-multiple windows open in the background to compensate for the relatively low resolution of a tablet, and the need to be able to be specific when using the pen (or sometimes touch) to select the rather small controls or text. Logos isn't tablet aware, so l took others suggestions and configured pen flicks to help me navigate a little easier -- but it is not nearly as easy as an iPhone/etc. I had to turn off the cited by and power lookup tools (unless I specifically need them) in order to minimize lag, but on the whole I enjoy the tablet so much I rarely use my high performance desktop now. I was also surprised to find that i don't really notice any difference when I use l4 with or without the ATI on.

I have an x200t and I do notice some lagging but I have been on the beta channel almost the whole time. As the beta cycles progress the responsiveness increases - sometimes drastically - this time it was around the beta 6 release.

The x201t you mentioned was much more than mine (3GB RAM (been lazy and have not added extra memory), core 2 duo L9400 @ 1.87GHz, Intel integrated Graphics 4500HD, 500GB 7200RPM Drive (adding this increased the speed quite a bit), Win 7 b4 bit)

The biggest lag issue I have is the parallel resource drop down and I really don't think it is the graphics card that is the issue.

I love the tablet capabilities and while I wish it was as snappy and the screaming desktop I use for video editing It is not really that much different.

Logos works great with the tablet and I look forward to the future to see how it will continue to work as its development progresses.

I have another x200t with a slower processor and it is shows a little more lag in responsiveness.

I also use a Lenovo USB to DVI Video adapter to get a second monitor and it works great.
