iTunes Logos App

This app is so very unstable.  I have hundreds of books downloaded to my iPod Touch hard drive and now my library dropped more than 200 books when I am away from home,  so away from wifi I can only access a handful of books.  When I get home with wifi the whole library shows up.

It's rare when I can access the app on the first try.  Much of the time I touch the Logos app and it will bring up a blank screen then drop the app altogether.  Sometimes I have to do this 10 times before it decides to open up.

I Think Logos Tech's need to come up with a major update to the app to make it stable and also to add some features such as a split screen and auto scrolling with adjustable speeds and to be able to use all the features that are on the PC Logos 4 offline.

What version of iOS do you have? What version of the Logos app do you have?

I have had similar problems with Logos on my Ipod Touch 3g, v4.1.  (Logos version 1.4.3 (39387))  Sometimes when I start the app, the intitial screen pops up (white screen with Logos on it like it is loading) and after about ten seconds, it disappears.  Sometimes I have to restart the app ten times or so before it will work.  Other times it will work for days with no problems.

I also experience problems with the app freezing, on a more frequent basis.  Typically it is when I am offline and I first start up the app.  I try to type something and the first letter will appear and then the app will freeze.  (Won't respond to any input.)  Usually after 20-30 seconds it unfreezes and then shows all of the letters that I attempted to type while it was frozen.

I have 1500 resources (on my PC) and I have downloaded about 90% of the available resources for the app.

I wish it work a little more reliably, but I'm not complaining too much because I love the app and love being able to take hundreds of books with me in such a small package.  Great job on the app - keep the improvements coming!!!

I hope this is not too obvious, but in case somebody was not aware......

Whenever I get an important iTunes update, or get a few of them at the same time, I turn off the iPhone after the installation is completed.  I don't mean just the power switch, but holding it down for several seconds, until the red band shows up and then completely turn it off.  This is tantamount to a cold boot of your computer.  It clears memory, it starts with the freshly installed apps and often, I have corrected the problem with apps, which close out without provocation.

As Dan said this is a good practice when loading apps or updates. It is not necessary all the time, but if you notice instability, it is a good idea. The Mac folks like to make fun of Windows needing to be rebooted, but my experience is that iOS devices need this as well.

I am an electronic technician and in my field we have a joke that when we can't fix something, we just boot it.  (Which in many cases, fixes the problem.)  So "booting it" is something I have tried many times.  Most of the time, I experience the problems I mentioned before as soon as I power my ipod on.

Just so those lurking and thinking about the app, I am not having any stability issues. The only such issue I might have that on start up there is a bit of a delay before it becomes responsive and on accasion it shows up again after its been open a while. Other than that and the occasional problem connecting to Logos servers, it is rock solid app for me on both the iPad and iPhone.
