Wish it were easier to look words up in a dictionary
I wish that the Power Lookup box (or something like it) would easily display the meanings of English (or Greek or Hebrew) words if we highlight them. Or perhaps, a keystroke while a word is highlighted should hover the definition from an appropriately prioritized dictionary.
I simply have not found a simple way in v 4 to look words up in the dictionary. Am I missing something

To clarify, I know that I can do a lookup from the right-click menu, but this seems to consistently take between 5-15 seconds and it ultimately opens a window that I just as quickly close. A popup similar to what we see when hovering over a biblical reference or a quick dynamic display like powerlookup is more what I'm looking for.

We are back to v3 inconsistent definition on hover. Yet it was a consistently requested feature! Come on Logos, if you do it for LGNTI do it for others!

this function is performed by the information Lookup Tool. However I have found it not to be great when it comes to english words. I haven't used it enough to say for sure, though.

Hadn't thought about that! It seems reasonable as it generates quickly.

Thanks Philip. That is what I was looking for...I appreciate it.
Do you know if there's a way to set preferences for this window, like to have it look up multiple dictionaries or to define for a session what dicitonary to use. Right now the only thing I can think of is to do prioritize resource with advanced settings and set a dictionary specific to the resource I'm reading to force a lookup in a desired dictionary.Jacob Hantla

What would be really cool is a "follow" option in the linking options for Webster's dictionary which would lookup the word currently hovered over.

That would be really cool. Thank you again for letting me know about the info window and it's functionality with dictionaries. I didn't know that was part of it, and it has already made a big difference for me in reading my Puritans.

Glad I could help

Agreed some sort of control would be uesful not, very helpful having to go back and change priorities all the time.. In some instance I want to look up a general definition and at other times a theological definiation..something like the keylink summary report from L3 where mutiple defnitions could be shown within the information window would be most helpful.

It is nice that in advance prioritization options I can set a priority for a single book (i.e. if I want English definitions to be default, or if I want anchor bible dictionary to be default). I really appreciate that feature.

Last time I tried advanced priorites had no luck with them...had massive problems since then...now I am on a new pc will have to get back to testing that...along with a lot of other stuff...

Hi Andrew,
Advanced option for restricting to a data type now works ie. Setting Vine's as an English source only. Don't know about the other one, but you can insert a resource more than once into the list eg. restricting Strong's Lexicon to Greek and Hebrew; thus not allowing it to be used for Strong's numbers!

Ahh, yes! The amount of control in v3 is Bliss.
Things like Preferred Books in the Information Window - remember that you could override what used to be called Keylink Options. - the Prioritize list comes closest to that in L4. But Preferred Books would be a way to use Information differently for English resources, Greek, etc.

Have you tried the command bar?
e.g. : look up anthropomorphism
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

For Rick's suggestion on a replacement for keylink summary report see http://community.logos.com/forums/p/1972/18533.aspx#18533
and my so far not totally satisfactory results http://community.logos.com/forums/p/2455/18544.aspx#18544 but yet to try this again in beta 6, and not time to do this morning unfortunately.
