Logos Signed in and Open on Two Computers?

Can I have Logos 4 signed in and open on two computers at once?

I'm asking because my new laptop arrived yesterday, and I've been downloading Logos 4 all night and now into the afternoon (though I had to cancel the download for a bit to do some other maintenance).

BUT...I need to continue my study, so I also have Logos up and running on my desktop. Is this going to slow down or stop my work on either computer?

Also...as a side note: is it normal for the downloads to take so long? I purposely bought a computer that met or exceeded Logos 4 specs in most areas so that I could carry my L4 with me, so I'm a little puzzled as to why it would take so long to download. I only have the Bible Study Library, so I'm not downloading thousands of resources.

The speed of downloads has to do with the bandwidth of your Internet connection as well as perhaps the performance specs on your machine. If it's a new laptop that meets or exceeds Logos's requirements, it's probably fast enough. Having both machines connected to the Internet and doing stuff online at the same time might cause the download performance to be slower on the laptop. It depends on what kind of Internet connection you have.

It's possible that something got hung up in the download and it's not actually making progress. Do you see the progress (percentage complete) incrementally going up if you hover your mouse over the Logos icon in the lower right corner of your screen? If not, cancel it and reboot the machine and try again. It will remember what it's already downloaded (if anything) and not start all over again.

You should be able to be logged in and running Logos on your desktop computer with no problem even if Logos is running on the laptop. I've done that between my two computers before. The timing of the syncing might be tricky if you're making changes in the same stuff on both computers simultaneously. Delete a collection on one computer and add a resource to that same collection on the other computer within a few seconds and you're likely to get unexpected results once the two machines sync with the cloud, for example. This sort of scenario is highly unlikely, though.

Yes, you can do this. There may be an barely perceptible slow-down, but nothing to be concerned about.

The Bible Study Library is a 4.65Gb download (it's all the image libraries that take the time). It will take several hours. You can use this site to calculate an estimated download time for your connection (the overhead will be around 15%).

Rosie: yes, thanks...the percentage IS going up...just slowly. I had it downloading all night, stopped it when it said 63% of 5+g download, restarted it a few hours later and it reported downloading a 1.45g download, and it is now at 73% of that. The reason I had the question is that I did go ahead and try to open Logos on the laptop, and it cooperated nicely but registered no resources for my search (ezekiel) so I wondered if there was a conflict since my desktop L4 was open. It's probably just that it needs to finish downloading and indexing before I start trying to use it.

Mark; thanks for the link. The download of BSL seems consistent with the 5+g download started last night (I do have a few other resources that would have bumped the total up.

Sounds like everything is working fine, I just need to be a tad more patient...not something I'm particularly good at!
