The update was downloaded but the installation failed. Each time when I start Logos 4, install message comes up. If I say yes, it tells me that the installation fails. If I say no, it loads 4.2B2. How can I proceed to install 4.2B3 at this point?
We need the setup logs from the failed installation. Please enable logging, try the installation from this link, http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/InstallerBeta/Logos4Setup.exe, and attach the resulting logs to this thread. Thank you.
I terminated logos and restarted. This time the installation completed. Logos started but crashed before it could finish loading the program.

David, I suspect Logos will need to take a look at the Log files as they point to a crash while attempting to load some web based resources. Not sure but wonder if Logos is trying to open to a layout with a Passage Guide that is saved in the layout?
Why not try opening to a blank layout? Hold down the CTRL key and click on the Logos icon to start Logos. Keep holding it down until the screen appears that asks you how you want to open up Logos. Select the 'Use blank layout' option. (see: http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Not_Starting )
The other thing you can try is to select on that same screen 'Work Offline'. If you think that you are opening to a layout with a Passage Guide, this might keep the guide from causing a crash, then you could close the guide, and restart Logos in the normal way and see what happens.
I would also try rebooting your machine if you haven't done so since the first failed attempt. It might have left something messed up with your network connection.
I rebooted the computer and the program opened without problem. Although, it is crawling right now. The log shows that logos is extremely busy syncing. I see hundreds if not thousands of entries like these.

Maybe, it has to do with Windows updates. When I updated Logos, Windows 7 was updating at the same time. Maybe running two major updates at the same time caused the problem.
Could be. But I'm glad you've been able to get beyond the crashing.
Although, it is crawling right now. The log shows that logos is extremely busy syncing. I see hundreds if not thousands of entries like these.
Is your computer still doing something else major that might be slowing Logos down (first guess would be the Logos indexer might stil be running)?
Logos does do an awful lot of syncing. More than it needs to, IMHO. It seems every few seconds if I've not been idle, those sync arrows start rotating again. And my log files are full of such entries as well. But it doesn't make Logos unusably slow for me. If it really is slowing Logos down to a crawl, you might consider running with "Use Internet" set to "No" (in Tools > Program Settings) and then manually syncing whenever you feel you need to (type "sync now" in the command bar). That's akin to not using Word's autosave feature but pressing Ctrl+S every now and then after lots of editing, just to be safe. You'd also have to manually update when new versions of Logos were available ("update now") and manually download new resources when any had been updated or you'd bought new ones ("update resources"). But let's see if we can figure out why this is so slow for you and help make it better so you don't have to run with Logos somewhat crippled from the way it's designed to run.
Many people have reported upgrading to Windows 7 has actually sped up their Logos experience. So I wonder if your machine specs aren't up to what they could be. Have you run the free NovaBench benchmark test to see how fast your machine is relative to other Logos users?
Maybe, as they use the same service (BITS) for updates. Not sure about sync'ing, though, which is uploading Notes. How many on your system? Do you see other entries like Preferences?
Might be best to attach your logos4.log if it is still continuing.
It was crawling for about 20 minutes after I restarted Logos. Now, it is running at the speed which I am used to.
Here is the score.

That's good to hear. It sounds like Logos might have still been indexing, or maybe a system scan from your anti-virus program was running (even though they're scheduled, they tend to start when I least expect them and they slow down my machine, and it's not always immediately obvious what's running) or Windows Update was still running in the background. Anyway, we might never know, but I'm glad you're back to normal.
When it was crawling, Logos used 40% CPU and 700MB RAM. Now it uses about 200 MB RAM about 500MB less than when it was crawling.
