Reading Plans and iCal

I am almost sure it is not necessary to post this but just want to get it out there just in case.

I hope the Reading Plans in L4 for Mac will export to iCal instead of Entourage (or at least in addition to).

It would be very "unMaclike" to require a Microsoft product to get calendar goodness from L4.

Again, almost embarrassed to say it out loud. I'm sure it wasn't necessary. Forgive my moment of weakness.

It certainly doesn't hurt. As a company with a rich history on the Windows platform, it's probably fair that long-time Mac users would want ensure that the Mac version is as Mac-like as possible. As such, suggestions like this are totally appropriate.

For what it's worth, much of the team working on the Mac version, myself included, are long-time Mac users. We, too, want long-time Mac users to feel at home using Logos 4 Mac.

definitely with iCal makes sense as everyone on a Mac has this but Entourage... ekkk i run away screaming.

I agree and hope that the defaults within L4mac would favor mac software like Pages, Keynote, iCal, etc.. over any other third party software.

Currently L4mac does export to iCal. I have it setup to remind me by 10:30 each night for the day's passages.

It was an option in L4mac to export the reading plan dates and passage "addresses" to iCal. I was impressed Logos made it so easy. Is this what you're referring to?

And if it was...

- Click on "edit" under an already existing reading plan

- There is an "export to iCal" button that will do the rest for you

That's awesome! I'll have to try this when I return home to my real (iMac) computer. This is the first mention of this on the forums from what I can tell. I think others may appreciate that we have resurrected the topic.

Well, tried it on the Mac and seemed everything went well until I looked at my calender and didn't find the "Logos" entries. Do they need to be imported into iCal? If so, where do I find the "Logos" file it created? Much appreciated as always...Michael

Michael, I'm strictly making observations here but maybe we can find the issue. in iCal I notice I have four colored checkboxes on the left under "ON MY MAC". The first two are Home" (Blue) and "Work" (Green). I believe these are mac defaults. My daily passages in iCal are blue (corresponding to the Home option I chose for it in Logos). Do you have a Home and Work option and are both checkboxes checked?

I do. I "told" Logos to create my schedule in my 'Home' calender (now I also have MobileMe and also have the "Home" and "Work" folders). I have chosen the "Home" check box in both sections: "ON MY MAC" and the "MobileMe."

After you finished setting the iCal in Logos, did it automatically appear in iCal, or did you have to import the Logos created iCal file into iCal?

Michael, it automatically appeared for me. I went through the iCal options to see if I had something checked that allows another program to interact so fluidly with iCal but nothing jumps out at me.

I just deleted mine out of iCal and successfully re-exported it. This time instead of using Home I first made a Logos option. I don't know what else to say for it not appearing.

Cameron - can you advise how to remove the Reading Plan from iCal? I tried everything I know and the events still show up - they seem to be stuck - like when you remove it - Logos is trying to repopulate the event. Any ideas????

i am new to L4. I have three reading plans synced to Ical. i need to delete them and start again. I have deleted them from the Reading Plan but they still appear in my calendars on my mac and Ipad. Does anyone know how to delete them from from Ical calendar. I can individually delete them but can I delete them all at once.
