Personal Layout

This may seem like a very simple question....but.....if I begin Logos 4 with the home page, and I enter my passage, is there any way to make MY layout (with MY Passage Guide and MY Exegetical Guide,etc.) come up instead of the default by Logos. Or does it remember the last one used. Thanks everyone.

No, there's no way to replace the default built-in layout that Logos opens up from the Home Page. It doesn't remember the last one used, it just always opens the default with a passage guide and an exegetical guide, your top bible versions, your top commentary, the info tool and the text comparison tool. You can replace the default passage guide and exegetical guide with your own custom ones if you name them My Passage Guide and My Exegetical Guide, respectively. But there's no way to name a layout some magical thing that will cause it to be substituted for the default one that opens from the Home Page.

This has been requested before on the forums, and it's worth drumming up a user lobby for the feature. I don't see it anywhere on UserVoice yet, but maybe you'd like to post it there and solicit votes from other users by placing a link to that suggestion here.

Are you saying that IF I name the passage and exegetical guide My PG and My EG then it will come up from the home page or did I musunderstand?

I setup a layout that has my PG and EG linked together... I saved a shortcut to the toolbar for it. I just click on that, enter my ref and voila!!

Hope this helps as a workaround in the interim.

Yes, your My PG and My EG will come up from the home page, however all those other windows in the default layout will also come up. So if you want a custom layout that has those guides in it, make your Layout and save it. Then whenever you want to use it, instead of going to the home page to type in a reference, open your layout from the Layout menu, and type in your reference into one of the tabs that has a Scripture reference box at the top (Bible, commentary PG or EG). As long as you've set up your layout with all the Scripture-indexable elements linked together on the same link set, they will all jump to that reference.

Select the same letter (e.g., A) under Link Set for all the resources and guides that you want to scroll together in tandem. Most of the time it's best not to put the guides on the link set, as they are usually the driver that make the rest of the layout scroll around. If you want to scroll independently in the Bible window, it can be annoying to have the PG start computing again as soon as you scroll.

Logos 4 does save the last layout when it closes.

Do the following:

1. Under Customize unclick "show home page at startup".

2. Make your layout and save it.

3. Close out of logos.

4. Open Logos 4 and your layout should come up.

Yeah -- I just put my bible on a different link set than the PG/EG in my layout. No issues
