Trying to use the CD on start-up

Whenever, I invoke Libronix, it attempts to access the CD drive that normally contains my wife's Rosetta Stone disk. So, I have to press the open button on the drive, close the drive and then respond in the negative to AutoResopond.

How can I configure Libronix to ignore the CD drive?

I'm not sure about this since I switched over to L4 and haven't been using Libronix regularly for some time now. But it may be that you have some unlocked resources that still reside on Libronix CDs of yours. If you were to copy those onto the hard disk, then maybe Libronix would stop checking the CD drive for them every time you start up. To do this, go into Tools > Library Management > Location Manager. Under "List Resources" select "Unlocked on Removable Media." Insert a CD for a Libronix product you've purchased and see if any resources get listed. If so, click Copy Resources. Repeat for any other Libronix CDs you have.

Also go into Tools > Options > General > Resource Paths, and check to see if your CD drive appears anywhere in the list of paths. If it does, select it and click Remove.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have been downloading Libronix software for years. I think that the only disk I have ever had was about ten years ago, and I no longer use it.

IIRC Libronix will ALWAYS check the CD Rom's on startup to see if they hold new resources. This doesn't have to be in the resource path - I believe it's hard coded into the program.

You have two options as I see it:

Put up with it attempting to access the CD each time you start L3
take the CD out when you're not using it.

I understand from your comments that there is nothing that I can do.

Libronix support, if you are listening: if this is a feature of Libronix, it is annoying. Libronix should be able to determine that the disk in the drive is not a Libronix disk and ignore it.

Actually this is what is happening. The CD Spins up and Libronix searches for a file that indicates it's a libronix disk with resources. When it doesn't find the file it moves on and ignores it.

Leonard, Libronix (Logos 3) is a discontinued version of Logos. Since Logos 4 was released last November, the development team has been working on improving it. They are not planning on going back and fixing problems in the previous version. So I guess you'll have to live with this or eventually upgrade to Logos 4, which does not have this problem. It doesn't use CD-based installation anymore but rather everything is download only.

The last time I called support, I did not get the impression that Logos 3 was discontinued. For whatever benefit there was to Logos 4, it was not worth the price. I will call Logos tomorrow and find out.

They are still supporting it, in that they'll still answer quesitons about it and most new books released will still run on it, but it is a dead end product. There will be no more bugfix releases for it. And the move is towards new resource releases eventually being for L4 only. You're probably still OK running L3 for the forseeable future if it suits your needs, but it isn't going to get updated anymore. Unlike with an operating system that can have security holes that need fixes to be released every so often, there would be no problem bad enough in Libronix that would warrant Logos putting out a patch for it. They are a company of only 200 people and are are seriously on to new things now.
