Is there a way to add PDF files to my Logos library? I know how to send books to PDFs and things, but I was wondering if there was a way to add PDF files to my library so that when I am studying, those resources are in my library as well.
The short answer is no...
What i do is to have a folder with all my saved PDF's, and drop a link to it on the toolbar so it's accessible inside logos....(it will open up in a regular folder window...not acually INSIDE logos)
not yet, but this has come up a lot in the forums. you can go to the logos uservoice page and vote that this be added to the software. but, as far as i know, the only option for this will be when they release the Personal Book Builder addin. But i dont think there is an estimated date for that yet.
This question has been raised many time. But it seems the voice has turned to deaf ears. You can try challenge and provoke attention again concerning why it is necessary to be able to add/search PDF within the Logos environment. Personally, I would like to see that happen in Logos. As a seminary students, I have collected so many great notes and articles in the format of PDF from my professors in classes and other websites. It would be great to see Logos goes beyond book library and integrates articles and notes from other formats, thus making it as one mega-source of resources for serious biblical study. Logos is doing this with books under their format but needs a vision beyond this. They have to think about how students, scholars, pastors, evangelists, layleaders, and etc. do their study. Where do they get their resources? Many of these leaders aren't rich enough to buy electronic books all the time, they usually received resources from people or downloaded them through the internet. This is reality. Everyone does that, and I do that. Another point, since Logos engine is free, why don't make it happen by allowing others to integrate their works within the Logos environment. Let them see the benefits and how advance is the Logos software; people would take Logos a serious bible study tool. In fact, for a company like Logos, it is a win-win situation. If people like the software, they would support and buy books from Logos. That's my take on this.

Personally, I would like to see that happen in Logos.
The problem with PDF searching is that it just wouldn't be very accurate. For my PhD I have scanned and OCR'd tens of thousands of pages of articles in PDF format. I have Adobe Acrobat Professional, so I can create an index that runs across the hundreds of separate files I have. It works fine for simple word and phrase matching, but it's very tough to do anything more complex (searching for Scripture references, x NEAR y, etc.). I'm not sure Logos could solve those problems easily.
On the other hand, with PBB (Personal Book Builder) comes out, users will be able to create genuine Logos resources, probably from Word or similar word processor. As long as you can convert your PDF to Word, you'll probably be then able to create fully-compatible Logos resources, which will have all/most of the functionality of real Logos resources. Although that will take more effort on our part (converting and perhaps tidying up documents), it will work much better than unedited PDFs ever could. Personally, I'd therefore rather Logos concentrated on PBB than PDF.
