Macbook 13" Ram Issue.

To run Logos Bible Software, the minimum required Ram is 2 GB. And that is what I have, but "recommended" is 4 GB. My question is: I have a late 2006 Macbook 13" and all it has is two "1 GB" slots. Can I upgrade the Ram from 2 GB to 4 GB? Or will it kill my Macbook, if I change/upgrade the Ram?

IF you can find RAM that fits, it won't negatively effect the laptop. However, your system may not be physically capable of recognizing 4Gb of RAM, so it's not worth the effort. Try crucial.com and run their little RAM program, and it'll tell you if you can add 4Gb or not.

I am running Logos on the new Macbook Air 13" w/ 2 GB RAM. It runs like a champ. Are you sure that you need to do the upgrade?

I am not sure why logos on my mac runs kinda slow. At times, when I want to open a book, it will take a some time to load up and then, if I want to go to next page, and if I hit the "down" arrow, it will take some more time to do that. So, I thought, may be the problem is with the ram. But now, I cannot upgrade my ram, because, all my macbook can handle is 2 GB.

Unless you've upgraded it (pretty easy to do yourself), you're probably running a 5400RPM hard drive, which is slow. A new 7200 RPM drive, or a hybrid like Seagate's Momentus XT would probably help a LOT. Then buy a cheap enclosure (from newegg.com), and use your old drive as external backup.

Just to let you know that your model (as mine) will actually read up to 3 gig of ram. If you put a 1 gig and a 2 gig chip in it should work fine. I also noticed a performance increase when I went from a 5400 to 7200 rpm drive. You can use Carbon Copy Cloner for free to do the clone. Not sure what website you would purchase this from but I bought a SATA to USB connector for only around $15 which allows you to connect up the new drive and clone the old drive to it live. If you want more info on how I did it drop me a message.

Newegg has good drive prices => http://www.newegg.com/ (noticed couple 10,000 RPM 2.5" drives: 150 GB and 300 GB capacity)

Apple's Disk Utility can copy disk partitions => http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4337 (steps work for Leopard as well as Snow Leopard and more Mac models)
