Editing Visual Filters

If you are having trouble setting up the Visual Filter file to begin with, then follow the steps below.

1)  On the top menu click on File.
   1a)  In the drop down menu click on Visual Filter to create a new Visual Filter file.
    1b)  Logos 4 will open you new Visual Filter file.
    1c)  Click here and rename your new Visual Filter file (by default it will be name Unnamed).

2)  Open your Bible version that you want the Visual Filter to work with.
   2a)  In the reference box type Gen 1, to place Genesis 1:1 at the beginning of your Bible.

3) While in your Bible, on your keyboard press the key combination Ctrl F.
   3a)  You will see a drop down find box.
   3b)  Type die in the box. Notice that Logos4 finds the first instance of it and highlights it.

4)  Right click on the word.
   4a)  A pop-up menu appears. On the right side of the menu click on Manuscript if you want to filter for the exact form of the word as found here or click on Lemma (make sure you pick the lemma for the right original language word) if you want to filter for the general lexicon form of the word.  [Note: if you do not want to filter by original language words, you can just type the word in step 5a (e.g. die or cursed). I am guessing though that in a Precepts study you will want to use the original language word most of the time.]
   4b)  Now on the left side of the menu click on Copy. This copies the original language form of the word to your clipboard.

5)  Now back in the Visual Filter window:
   5a)  Right click in this Find box, then and in the drop down menu (not shown) click on Paste. The will paste what you copied in step 4 into the Find box.
   5b)  Now click in this box and in the drop down menu select which filter highlighting that you want applied when your word is found.

6)  This step is out of order, but it will not hurt anything to do it here.
   6a)  Click on Bible to tell the Visual Filter that you want to use a Bible.
   6b)  Click on this field and in the drop down list of Bibles select the Bible that you want your Visual Filter to be applied in.
   6c)  Click on this field and in the drop down list (not shown) you will see a box New Reference Range, type Genesis in that box and press Enter on your keyboard.

7)  Now you can repeat steps 3b through 5b to add more words to your Visual Filter.

8)  As you add these words, they should show up in your Bible on the right.
