I was wondering how many Logos users here are using Google Wave and if there would be any interest in starting a Bible study group using Google Wave. I'm smith.bryan.c@googlewave.com
What do you think of the idea?
I just suggested this on a the seminary blog today. The trouble is getting the Wave invites. They are very scarce!
Google Wave is not yet broadly available but you could do much the same thing by setting up a Tiki Wiki site.
Go on about GoogleWave...
I would like to participate if I get the big Google Wave invite!
You can request an invite here.
I signed that site when it first was reported long ago and still no invite. If you are waiting till there are enough people to have a decent sized community you may be waiting a long time. I just set up a forum that I am going to be using for a group of local ministers. But you are welcome to join us.

I have not really even shared with anyone else. Our group will be meeting in a little while.

Peace to you, Kevin! and Joy! I think I might be interested. Thanks for the invitation.
I am curious, though. Just checked your link and it says "October 16, 2009, 03:25:08 AM " It is now 8:27 Eastern Standard Time with me. Where are you located? I thought you were in North America. Guess I was wrong! Again! *smile*
Yours in Christ,
Mel
never heard of "google wave"...
its google's attempt to make email obselete
Judging from my inbox, its not working.
it has nothing to do with gmail. http://wave.google.com/help/wave/about.html
neat tool
I am in the Eastern Time zone. I may have the clock settings wrong on the forum.
UPDATE: That was it. Thanks for catching it for me.
Just saw this thread... if anyone wants a google wave invite for bible study purposes or otherwise let me know... I have a few extra I can share...
Andrew
A friend and I signed up the same day back in June (I think). He got his invite on Friday night. He sent me an invite just to be sure, but I still haven't received it yet. When I do (please today) I am in.
all about Christ,David Buckham
I'd love a GW invite if you have one to spare. You can email me at donovan (at) dmpnet.org
So far there is no group meeting. The fact that so few people have google wave invites is probably a major contributor. I don't know if there would be enough interest if google wave invites were plentiful. Anyone up for this?
I agree. Until there are lot of people using GW, it will probably be a bit difficult to pull together a Bible study.
Donovan, added you to the invite list... I checked with a couple of my friends and some didn't get there invites right away either. Looks like Google is treating these invites as "nominations", whatever that means. They must be doing some sort of staging or other validation before sending the invite. Hope you get it soon
Any guesses on how long it takes to get an invite. I know my friend sent me one on Friday night. I am definitely up for a cooperative Bible Study Wave.
He and I are using Wave to write a book together.
all about Christ,
David Buckham
Writing a book together sounds like a great use!
One of my co-workers got his invite over the weekend which took a couple days... I would think it would be in their best interest to send the invites so that people have connections to use wave with... unlike the gmail beta, you can't really use Wave on your own
Way cool!!!! You are so awesome! Thanks!
Hey guys
I'd also like to be a part of the study group. Think it's an awesome idea. I requested an invite some time ago, so as soon as I get it and the group is up and running count me in.
Andrew, I would love one, bookmeister at hotmail.com
Would love to have an invite myself. I have signed up for it, but never did receive one.
mhatcher@gmail.com
I just need an invitation. I have requested one from the folks at Google, but looks like that might be a long wait. Anyone with a spare invitation, please let me know (nekrag@gmail.com).
Niels
About the times. My friend sent the invites on Friday evening, my wife got her's on Tuesday morning. He mispelled my email address so I didn't get mine. Thankfully he had a few invites left. Look forward to surfing this weekend.
The very first time I heard about Wave, and had it fully explained as best as one could explain Google Wave, all I could think about was collaboration between students, linguistic geeks like myself and the like. I imagine once it is fully released you'll eventually find a Seminary or so using it for correspondence and even home work for the "on campus" students. I am very, very interested to know whats up! I have somebody who has "nominated" me and I also have the standard request put forth, but as of yet I haven't heard anything.
If you want more information about GW, you need to check out TWIG (This Week in Google). http://twit.tv./twig This is a fantastic podcast that is based on "everything Google and everything cloud." The past four or so episodes the hosts have received their invites, interviewed a couple Google employees and a couple former Google employees, as well as some "widget" developers for Wave. So, if you want to know what it is, there won't be a better source!
Been out of town a couple days (new grandson!!), so missed your first offer. If you still have any invites, I'd love one.
Bill
Hi Andrew,
I was interested in getting together a study group on Google wave, but even though I have requested a invite have not gotten one. If you still have one to spare, could you send me one? gneely74 at gmail dot com.
Thank you.
So far there I've been blipped by only one person about this on Wave. Maybe when more folks have invites it would be possible to get a Bible study together.
I was thinking it would be nice to set a specific time when the study group will meet but then encourage discussion in the meantime as people have time. Since Wave updates conversations in real time, it should be possible for us to bounce ideas around and get a good discussion going. At least it's worth a try. What do you think?
I forgot to link to these videos that give a bit of background on what Wave is and how it is used.
Shorter overview:

Really long history and explanation:

The reporter said something like "instead of saying "send me an email about it" you could now say "let's start a wave on this." Talk about missing a coin the phrase moment. How 'bout "wave to me?" Or, "I'll wave to you" Duh. "Let's consider starting this new technological advance called "wave" by Google with each other." yeah. concise. Catchy. Maybe next time the reporter tries that one, I'll just wave at him.
Grady, I've added you to my invitee list.
Bill, I'll need your email address to add you... you can email me at ajhughes at gmail dot com
I have a few more so if anyone else is interested, just email me. As has been mentioned here, Google doesn't seem to be actioning these immediately, but hopefully this helps you get an invite sooner rather than later
holy cow (apologies to certain religions), I don't know HOW I got my font that huge on that. sorry.
Anyway, my email is dustandbreath AT sbcglobal dot net
I would also like to participate. Sounds like a cool product and an a great way to interact with others from this group. If someone has an extra invite, my email is ppayne011 AT yahoo dot com.

Still don't have mine, so Google is taking their time I'm afraid! :-)
I sent you an invite.

I sent you one
I'm guessing they are pacing this carefully so that they don't scale the system too quickly. It makes a lot of sense and I would probably do the same thing.
For what it's worth, one of my co-workers I invited Monday received his invitation today... maybe ya'll won't be too far behind
I did receive mine today and already got it going. Thanks Andrew.
I'd love to be involved if someone has an invitation left [:)]

Thanks so much Clinton! Hopefully I'll see the invite soon.

Invited.
I have been having pretty major problems so far with Google Wave. The issues have to do mostly with disappearing or not appearing messages. I think it's probably a good thing that it's taking so long for people to get activated Wave accounts because the system doesn't seem to be quite ready at this point.
Maybe in a week or so most of us will have activated accounts and some of the message problems will be cleared up and we can talk about a time and date for the first group study.
Andrew,
Thank you for the invite! Received it this morning.
I had a friend on Twitter say he had 10 invites! He is "hooking me up."
So, there it is. I will be joining you guys in "1 to 2 weeks" according to my friend.
Thanks
Wilson Hines
Surf's Up! I got my invite. Please add me to the Bible Study Group. My info addy is dbuckham at googlewave dot com
Study with you soon.
