New unofficial tutorial video: Printing
My latest in the unofficial tutorial video series covers printing: selecting the text you want to print, changing your print settings, and changing the text size.
This is my personal Faithlife account. On 1 March 2022, I started working for Faithlife, and have a new 'official' user account. Posts on this account shouldn't be taken as official Faithlife views!

Superb! Again, such wonderful details like when Logos will put in page breaks, and why the number of pages doesn't match the page range you typed in.

Sorry - I disagree, I find the use of video irritating. I much prefer to go to a web page to get instructions than to have a video running. I am glad the Wiki is available and hope that it gets update periodically as well.

Well the good news is, that you have the best of both worlds.
i have been updating pages as time permits. i am currently working on a new page Using the Find box. As i watch Mark's videos i add links to them in the wiki pages. i also update details that were not there or improve on some of them. Recently i updated all the wiki pages with current links for the Logos videos to their new website. So updating is still going on.

The wiki is constantly being worked on and developed further. One person's videos are not going to replace the need for the wiki, and we're lucky we have lots of eager wiki editors. Many hands make light work. But I'm so glad Mark is doing the video series as there are people for whom it is easier to learn with a person explaining and showing on screen. You don't have to watch them if you find them irritating. Only 300 or so people have watched each one, and there are thousands of users on the forums.

My purpose of writing was not to in any way criticize the videos - given the comments, it is obvious that there are lots of people who make use of them. Just wanted to make clear that at least on person preferred the the more conventional written documentation even if not provided by Logos. Now if someone would write a book for "The Missing Manual" series, I would be very happy.[:)]

I'm not familiar with the style and depth of the Missing Manual series, but Morris Proctor's Logos 4 manuals (vol. 1 & vol. 2) are quite good. Perhaps not as in-depth as some of Steve Clark's wiki pages, and not free like the wiki, but there's an index and MP covers things in a logical order from start to finish. You'd have to pay for a Missing Manual anyway.

I have to ask this question, because there is something about these videos that doesn't make sense to me. Why are these "unofficial"?... if any videos ever deserved official presentation by Logos, then these do. These should be hosted and sponsored by Logos. Customers will buy more resources when they have a better understanding of how to use the program. These videos are superb and Mark Barnes should be rewarded for his efforts in my opinion.
As an afterthought, I also think that Logos should present more free training material to their customers as well. At the very least these videos should be linked on the tutorial page along with all the other ones that Mark and others have there already. I know that Morris Proctor is making profit from his training seminars and that is great but I think people would greatly appreciate a more thorough explanation of the functionality of a product that has such great (but sometimes hidden) potential.

These are unofficial because Mark took it upon himself to do them, on his own time. Nobody from Logos asked him to do it, nor have they sanctioned them, nor even linked to them (yet) from their own video tutorial page, nor offered to reward him. I wouldn't be surprised if they're having some discussions beside the coffee maker about it, though. They are absolutely outstanding, better any anything Logos came up with themselves. However they've only just appeared upon the scene, and Logos might either be thus far unaware of them, or just hasn't had a chance to come to grips with the quality yet and how useful they would be.
I've noticed from Mark's blog which shows how many views each video has received that relatively few people are seeing them. The most any one video has received so far is 326 views. That's sad. There are over 3/4 million Logos users. So many of them could benefit from seeing these videos. I'd love to see the word get out wider about them. Maybe Logos will take on publicizing them more, perhaps even give them on free on a DVD with all new purchases of Logos (with Mark's permission, of course), once the series is more complete. I know Mark doesn't want any pressure to finish whatever he's got up his sleeve, but it is so exciting to see each new video come out as he has time to work on them.

I knew why Mark had labeled them unofficial but I can't believe that Logos hasn't already given notice to them and linked to them ( which would make them much more of the official persuasion). These videos would get tons more views if they were on the main tutorial page.

Give them time. Mark put the first one out only a couple of weeks ago. It took Logos weeks to twig onto the fact that we'd been producing user-created videos for a while and start linking to the best ones from their videos page. Someone has to view them all to vet them -- given that they're by Mark and his others are well known to be of high quality, that shouldn't really be necessary, but they probably would want to anyway -- and someone else needs to update the web page, and that requires internal coordination/communication. They probably just don't have time with all the other stuff they're doing right now.
If you'd like to draw their attention to Mark's new video series, email Dan Pritchett (dan _at_ logos _dot_ com). I personally would rather have Mark be able to continue the series without any pressure until he feels satisfied that he's done with it. I'm afraid that having them linked in from the "official" video tutorials website prematurely might get people knocking on his door to hurry up and finish the series. He's a pastor first and foremost and does this only in his spare time.

I totally agree with you. It shouldn't be anything he's required to do within an established time frame, just something he can do at his leisure. For example, whoever it is at Logos that updates the tutorial page could provide Mark with a contact email and then he could simply notify them as he comes out with more videos. No pressure at all, just a way to get the information to the masses quickly and easily. He obviously desires to share or he wouldn't be rolling all these out, which we are all grateful for I'm sure. Also I don't know if familiarity might gain some attention from Dan, but if you emailed him it might get a more timely response, since you are such a regular poster and very helpful individual, but who knows?

Well, I go away to preach in another church, and you're all talking about me whilst I'm away! [:P] Only joking, I don't mind at all!! Just some quick responses, though:
I agree with Floyd about videos. Personally I prefer to learn from written not visual tools. But I know we're all different, and others prefer it the other way. In some ways all I'm doing is videofying (that's a new word I just invented) the Wiki. I always read through the Wiki before I do a video, and if it wasn't for the Wiki, there's lots that would get missed out. On the other hand, if I come up with something in a video that's not already on the Wiki, Steve or someone else adds it pretty quickly (one example). So there's no fear that the videos will kill off the Wiki. Both are a collaboration.
No-one needs to email Dan! He sent me a very kind unsolicited email a fortnight ago, thanking me for the videos so far. We didn't discuss whether they should be made more 'visible', but as Rosie suggested, if that is to happen, I'd rather the set was more complete than it is now.

Actually the whole point of me visiting this thread was to say that I realised I'd missed something from the video - printing a single image by right-clicking. I've uploaded a new version, which has that feature inserted between 12:34 and 14:04.
