Berean School of the Bible coursebooks (AOG Global University) BSB

First off, I am aware of this thread concerning AOG Global University & Logos:

but my questions are specifically about the new Logos Pre-Pubs posted today. So I started a new thread to learn more. If you wonder what I am talking about check this out: http://www.logos.com/products/search?q=bsb&start=-60&sort=rel&pageSize=60

I have read the product descriptions and also gone to the Berean School of the Bible http://www.globaluniversity.edu/student_info/level3/bsb/bsb.cfm and Global University http://www.globaluniversity.edu/ websites. I have downloaded the BSB catalog and still have these questions:

Is it necessary to enroll in BSB to purchase & use these resources?
What is meant by "interactive test questions?"
Can we have a glimpse at a Table of Contents and sample some pages?
Are these strictly textbooks or course syllabi?
How are these technologically different from the AM Moody courseware?
Can these resources be used repeatedly? Or are they time-limited licenses?

I am very excited to see Logos participate in this joint effort to bring Bible education opportunities to people who may not otherwise be able to get this training. I hope we see a lot more of these projects.

Being Assembly of God, I imagine they do. Although in the BSB catalog I linked to it says students from churches outside of AOG could supplement courses from their own denomination to an extent. That seems very accommodating to me. I wish more schools were like that.

Agreed, this would be nice, and perhaps make the studies more inviting to those outside the AOG.

But it does seem, by the lack of detailed information on the product pages, that these are being published for a specific purpose. As in: "We would like this curriculum available in Logos for our students..."

"This course may be taken for credit by enrolling with the Berean School of the Bible." (emphasis mine) That would imply you don't have to be enrolled to purchase the resource. But it still leaves me wondering about the "interactive" feature.

True, the statement does lend itself to discovery, then enrolment. It still seems like, by the overall feel of the descriptions, they are more of a destination than a starting point. As in: "Go to this web-page to get your coursework...".

I am also interested in seeing what the make up of this resource is like. It is a shame this is not being offered as a bundle as the price tag for the individual Item seems a bit pricey. Logos could we have some sample pages?

Sorry Matthew for not answering your question. I have been extremely busy with the conference and so I missed that week on the forum. (I missed more things actually).

I also would be very happy to find out more about the way how those textbooks work in Logos. I know the paper textbooks, that are suited for the correspondence way of study. It would be great if Logos version of the textbooks would be somehow working on-line with the GU office. It has to be answered however by Logos person.

As far as the "Pentecostal side of the fence" question. Yes, the courses are written mostly by the Pentecostal authors. In the past ICI University used to have textbook and the Study Guide. Many times the textbook had been written by non-pentecostal evangelical author and the Study Guide then by the AoG author. (For instance: the commentary on Acts of F.F. Bruce and Study Guide written by Stanley Horton. Or Commentary on 1st Corinthians by Barret and Study Guide written by Gordon Fee.) Most of the new courses are both textbook and Study Guide all in one book.

I hope we hear more from Logos about those courses, how they function in Logos.

It would be nice if the study guides were complete with questions, outlines, and assignments available to all Logos users; and the enrolled students enjoy the "intersctive testing" part.

Sample page scans of the Table of Contents would be nice.

Enrollment is not required. Interactive test questions means you can fill in the self tests in the software. The courses are self contained and therefore quite full of information; Not merely syllabi. The same technology was used to build AM Bible Courseware, though the format of the courses is unique to Berean. The resources may be used again and again. The purpose of putting them in Logos was to make this possible and to turn them into reference materials that you can search.

As for sample pages, I will pass that on to our marketing department.

Hello! I worked on the Berean projects and appreciate your commendations. We are pleased to publish them. These courses are utilized by many to fulfill their education requirements for ministry. No enrollment is required. The tests are multiple choice and allow you to enter your answers. It will also grade the results, put your wrong answers in red, and point to where you should review to find the correct information. These are complete courses, not merely syllabi. As such they are self contained but do benefit from being in the system in two ways: One, they are entirely digital and two, they become reference material that will participate fully in your searches for information. They are based on the same technology as AM Bible Courseware from Moody Bible Institute, but their format is unique. They can be used repeatedly by clearing that answers.

Thank you ever so much for providing answers. I am especially happy to hear the design allows continued and repeated use of the resources. It sounds like an improvement over the AM Moody design. I'm looking forward to seeing some page samples.

As has already been mentioned, it would be nice to offer a Pre-Pub Collection of all the resources together.

Well, looks my memory needs some refreshment. The Study Guide was written by George O. Wood and was based on the commentary The Book of the Acts of F.F. Bruce from the NICNT series. Sorry for that mistake [:$].

Yes it was fast. They must have put the whole team on it. I have been looking at the sample pages but it will take me a bit of time to go through all of them. So far I like what I see. One particular title that stands out so far is Church Administration, Finance, and Law: BSB Level 3 [MIN 327]. This is a neglected subject in many schools.

(I still think it would be cool to bundle them. hint, hint .)

Yes, you are right, but still I am glad there is an option to buy an individual courses. I would not be able to get all of them right now. [:(]
