Typing "handout" in the commandbar should create a blank one.
Or Alt-F, H. To select it from the File Menu (without a mouse).

It needs to know whether you want to open a new handout or an existing one, so you want to type either of the following: new handout or create handout.

Pressing 'Alt' activates the command bar buttons and menus. When you press 'Alt' by itself, the Home button is activated, allowing you to either press 'H' or press Enter to open home page, 'L' to open Library, etc., or you can arrow over to the Library and Search buttons and menus. Pressing Alt+F, Alt+G, or Alt+T, will expand the File, Guides, and Tools menus. Pressing a corresponding letter for a menu item has not been a feature as of yet. I have submitted a request.

Thanks Melissa,I'm so used to other programs that know that Alt-F,x means close and so forth that I'm certain other users will have the same issues. (BTW: that one should work too).
Any keyboard shortcuts will be appreciated.... especially ones which adhere to regular Windows UI protocols.
