updating a saved layout is so painful
I just switched to Mac (!) but I've found that updating a saved layout is intensely painful. I finally figured out (I think) that it was simply right click (i.e. two-finger click) but cmd+right-click. However, it's very difficult to get that right. Maybe one of my fingers let up or both fingers don't press enough, but it's extremely difficult to get it right consistently. I don't have this issue in other applications. Would it be possible to add another icon next to the layout rename icon that would refresh a named layout to the current layout?

I just go to "layouts", right click on the one I'm working with and click on "update." Hope that helps.

actually, I think you have to do cmd+right-click and hold for a couple of seconds, then you can update. However, it's much easier to rename the current named layout, then name the current snapshot to the original layout name, and try deleting the old layout another time.

I don't have a trackpad, but it seems that you are missing something. It is really easy to update a layout. When you right-click (or control-click) you should get this menu:
Are you getting this menu?
If the two-finger click is too hard, try the control-click instead.

I think the easiest thing is to just name the current snapshot the same name as the layout you want to update. It will overwrite the old layout, no renaming musical chairs game needed.

Ok, here's the answer -- it's a long two-finger click. I brief two-finger click isn't enough, at least not on my MacBook Pro 2010, Mac OS X 10.6.5. If I do a long (like one second) two-finger click, then letting up shows the secondary menu.

Does anyone know if there is a way to update the open layout with a command, so that one can put it on the shortcut bar?
And, btw, what exactly does cmd-s save? It's on the Keyboard Shortcuts for Mac Wiki page, but I haven't figured out what it actually saves. If it doesn't actually save anything for the moment, could it please be programmed to save/update the open layout?

Cmd-S is listed as a General OSX keyboard shortcut, not as a L4 Mac shortcut. That shortcut has not yet been implemented for L4 Mac. However, I like your suggestion.
