Black Friday - Cyber Monday 2010

Thank you for the heads up JH!
I really like Logos' sales strategy for this one. I put a couple of "dreamers" down, just to see if they will become more affordable plus one that is a bit more realistic for me [Y]

this got me excited this morning. I put a major collection up and then two smaller pieces that might get better prices.
thanks Logos.

We are always complaining that we want bargain prices on the products that we want from Logos. Now's the chance to put our money where our mouth is.
I've got to do something about what I really want (and can afford right now).
Thank you Logos!

Thanks for making this not a black Friday, but a bright and cheery Friday.

Does anyone know if you can get the discount on a base package upgrade? I want to go from silver to platinum, but if that's not possible I don't want to waist one of my three choices.
Thanks!0 -
Would the Macarthur series be included/excluded from this opportunity?

I'm working my way through the web site like a kid in a candy-store.
Makes me wish that there were user reviews/recommendations for resources & collections.
Does anyone own or can make recommendations on any of these:
- Welwyn Commentary series
- Rosscup's Exposition on Prayer in the Bible
And can anyone tell me where are the Theologcial Journal's vol's 11-12?

Hi Richard
The TJL's are a Galaxie product that would not qualify per the blog. Happy hunting.

The only restrictions I saw in the blog is from this paragraph:
To help make sure you don't waste your only three chances for an awesome
deal, it's only fair to warn you that, due to various contracts and
licenses, some titles aren't able to be discounted at all. (Zondervan,
Galaxie, Concordia...) Also, don't ask for a quote for any title that is
not shipping yet, since all Pre-Pubs and Community Pricing titles are not available yet, and the sale ends before they go live.Help links: WIKI; Logos 6 FAQ. (Phil. 2:14, NIV)

You are correct, and the TJL's are from Galaxie. Just trying to save you from wasting one of your 3 choices.

Sorry Richard to disappoint, the Welwyn Commentary series is still on Pre-Pub & the Theological Journals are from Galaxie so they are not included in the offer.

AARRRG! The web page for the journals doesn't name the publisher for those journals.
Thanks for helping me not waste my request.

Okay, I need to finish my coffee before doing any more browsing or posting.

What I read there are mostly accolades about the man. Sounds like someone I'd love to meet.
That tells me something about his qualifications for writing, but doesn't tell me anything about how helpful this work is. I'd love to hear from someone who has read it, and found the work itself helpful personally, theologically, and/or in their ministry. I think I'm a nice guy too; maybe even memorable, but I'm no writer (I've tried).
So, have you read his Exposition on Prayer in whole or in part, and if so, would you recommend it?

I have it, but have not had the opportunity to really dig into it. I do have a few surface level observations:Richard DeRuiter said:So, have you read his Exposition on Prayer in whole or in part, and if so, would you recommend it?
1. The book is tagged as a commentary, so you can read it along with your Bible Study (much more practical than trying to read it through)
2. The Topical Index is very helpful.
So I am glad I have this in my library, but I can't provide the kind of depth in review you are looking for. :-(
Hopefully someone else can jump in.
Blessings

I don't know, but I suspect it's OK. I tried to ask my sales rep about this (and also about Yale, since they've made so much trouble lately), but didn't really get an answer -- which, in this case, I interpret as 'go ahead'. All I can say for sure is: use your sales rep, rather than sales@.
Wish I knew what range the discounts are in! If it's like 50% I'd go for the biggest items on my wish list; if it's more like 20% I'd be more modest and go for the stuff I need most. Also, I wish this happened after the 12 days of Logos; it would be a pity to waste one or more options on something I could equally well have gotten then. Guess man's never content. [:D]

Joe,
Side question - your screen shot font is so clear. Can you tell me what default font do you use?
Thanks!

Hi Richard,
I have Rosscup's book on prayer and find it to be an excellent resource. I is the result of his teaching at Master's Seminary and I have found it very useful.

There an ellipsis in that list of publishers, so one wonders whether there are others.
Nonetheless, I'm glad I've been keeping my personal wishlist in a file, so I can easily go through and pick my top three right now.

Yes, that one does.
This one, the one I was looking at, doesn't:
http://www.logos.com/product/3582/theological-journal-library-vols-1-10
Also, I didn't see vol's 11, or 12 when I brought up the list for Journals from the left panel under Resource Type / Journals. (Must be an oversight with the web site.)
EDIT: both above issues reported to the Logos Website forum.

For what it's worth, given a number of replies from Logos employees when the new site went live, I don't trust the stuff that shows up in "faceted browsing" yet. I found the theological journals by searching. And unless I'm doing some kind of browsing of the whole list of products, I almost always start with a search. I do think the "Live" facet applied to a search result is accurate.

Sadly, the facets are still not perfect. We are working on a solution that should hopefully be deployable sooner rather than later, but in the meantime we "hacked" together a "facet" for Galaxie titles in particular here:

I hope this question gets answered. I would hate to waste my three inquiries on ICC, and two other "biggies" that are unaffordable in lump sum purchase. I would also hate to miss them because I assumed they were not offered at a payment plan during this special....
Any word?

I'm guessing the first batch of people who sent theirs in got quicker replies, but that from here on out the response time is going to get a bit slower. Did you see Dan Pritchett's post just above saying "Let's just say we got waaaay more than we anticipated!" -- they've promised that they will respond to everyone who gets their email in by Monday, but they did not say they would respond by Monday. I'd give them a couple of days after that, since they've apparently been flooded with emails. But the timestamp on your email will guarantee you get a proper reply in due time.

Yea, but...

Emails started coming in around 1:00 am, and now we are all the way up to 6:40 am.
The sales guys are like "pigs in mud" and really enjoying the pace. The phones have been ringing all day for normal business, and since we had a holiday-induced 60% staff reduction, the guys have been swamped!
The good news is that we are going to put more people on this, and probably offer some flex-time for them to work Saturday too just to get through emails with no phone calls distracting them.
Since this is first come, first served, feel free to spread the word about the sale to your friends!

I got two great prices on some products I'd been eyeing up for almost a year. Even my wife agreed it wasn't an offer I could turn down!

I sent my wish list of three at 1:42 p.m. EST. No word back yet, of course.

I sent mine at 1:21PM ET...no response yet. They must be buried...

Probably mostly done for the night - except for a few stragglers that stayed on. Hopefully there will be more in place tomorrow. I did not send my request in till late in the afternoon (EST), I will not expect an answer till Monday.

I sent mine in at 9:47am Central and haven't gotten a response yet. They got blasted with emails in an overwhelming response! Look forward to what the special offer winds up being.... Seems like a win - win situation...

Rich,
I don't know if you submitted your email with the 3 choices yet -- but here is an old message I remember on Rosscup's books on prayer by Jacob Hantla.

Thanks for remembering this from over a year ago. Actually I sent in my three earlier today, and included this 5 volume set.

This is amazing. It is almost 2:00 am and the emails keep rolling in. Believe it or not, there are still some of us up and working on this! We are only up to 8:39 am right now, but I know one more guy is back from vacation in the morning and chomping at the bit to get to work on responding. Some of the guys who were working on it today are getting up early to hit it again!
Hang in there, we are working hard to give you all personal attention!

Coming up with the perfect 3 is difficult. Do you try to use a pick on a big dollar set, hoping that the price is so good you can finally afford it? Or do you go for something more mid-range, knowing that if all 3 picks come thru you still couldn't afford to get them all? This is what I did. I still cannot afford all 3 even tho the prices are very good. I kinda wish I had went after a moderate priced item and 2 low priced ones so I could have taken advantage of all 3 sale prices. Yet, I am glad for what I can get.
CHOOSE WISELY!
