WE [the customers] have to get our emails in on time - They [Logos staff] have until when ever to get it done
[But we are thankful that they are trying to get the replies back quickly]
[And yes, get sleep - less errors (except it is OK to make a mistake on my request and let me have it for 30% instead of 30% off) ]

I sent in and got back my "Black Friday" prices but two of the items I had asked my sales rep about a few months back and he gave me at that time the same price I got yesterday for the "Black Friday" deal. They are good prices but I was thinking these prices would be better than what I could get at any other time.
Oh well, I still very much thank Logos for the deals and I hope others got great prices.

Universally Black Friday means better discounts than at any other time of the year....period.
Sorry to hear your deal wasn't unusual. Guess won't be either. ?

I'm still going through Logos lists of titles to narrow my wish list down to 3.
Trying to guess what kind of discounts to expect.
Trying to calculate how many bargains I can afford.
Reminds me of over a half century ago when I was a kid looking through the Sears Christmas catalog. [<:o)]

Yes I had the same experience. I didn't buy now since I expect to be able to get the same or better deals in the future.

I was slightly apprehensive about this when I first realized the ambiguous nature of the sale. Those of us who have been dealing with a salesperson over the years tend to get a general idea of what kind of price to expect, and even with this being the "Big" sale, I was somewhat worried that it just might end up being "everyday" discounts.
Even so, I'm still hoping that when I get my offer, I can say: "I never thought I could get them that low!" [:O]

Agreed, but you did bring back great memories for me. I can still see myself a few days before Christmas, dreaming my way though the catalog, with the pages of the second half worn thin from use. (and the big black circles around the things I really wanted, just to make sure that Santa's helpers knew too)

THANKS FOR NOTHING LOGOS! ONE ITEM SALE PRICE WAS MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL PRICE! ANOTHER ONE WAS NOT EVEN THE USUAL 25% I GET FROM MY SALES PERSON AND THE OTHER ONE HAD THE WRONG PRICE!!!
I BELIEVE APRIL FOOL'S DAY IS ON APRIL NOT THANKSGIVING! ANYWAY, THAT DID IT FOR ME, I'M GOING TO THE THIRD PARTIES TO GET MY BOOKS IN LOGOS FORMAT AND WHATEVER I BUY WILL PURCHASED WHEN YOU DO HAVE A REAL SALE! BLACK FRIDAY...YEAH RIGHT!!!!
THANKS FOR DISAPPOINTING ME! THE ONLY MONEY YOU'LL PROBABLY SEE FROM ME WILL BE IF YOU HAVE A GOOD DEAL DURING THE 12 DAYS OF LOGOS.

Sorry for your experience Giovanni, I think you may want to REPLY to your extant email and point these things out. If you desire you may want to CC Dan@logos and watch him/them come through in flying colors.

I'm very pleased with the sales price quoted for all three of the items on my wishlist, and plan on ordering them all. Thanks Dan and Logos!

I commented on this in a previous thread where a forum user was trying to air grievances to Logos, yet doing it publically on the forum.
Some observances:
- If I'm not mistaken, you wanted all of us to read it even though you wrote as if speaking to a Logos rep over the phone. I know at least I would appreciate it if you went ahead and called Logos or shot them an e-mail if you're outside the US instead of posting this in the forum. Its probably the most effective way to cause change in the system. Posting as you did in the forum only causes us to question your motives.
- Secondly, typing in all capitals might not be the best method in communicating any hardships you may have with expectations of fielding a wanted response. Giovanni, I think you already knew everything I just typed so we'll just let it be and hopefully handle this properly if it should arise again.

Will Logos still be answering emails today? I am waiting on an email back from Santiago Galeano to order more from the black friday. He was so helpful, I decided to up my order.

Same here. Prices were nice but nothing like you typically see on Black Friday's deep discounting. I think we are all a little spoiled at times and confess I did hope for a little more. No harm though, I think this was a great idea and something I hope Logos will do again in the future. Given what I know now I might have picked slightly different titles too. Oh well, I still love you Logos. On to the 12 days...

I will also take more time and care in what I choose. However, I got two of my choices for 70% off the regular price[H]

Somewhere Dan said it was "First come, first served". Maybe like brick and mortar stores, they have set limits on what can be had for Black Friday prices - one those limits are reached, standard discounts apply. Don't think so, but it explains what others are seeing.

I picked up the Essential IVP for less than it can be found elsewhere, and a good discount off Jewish Commentary on the New Testament

Not heard back on mine yet - I expect the percentage discounts available would depend a lot on who is the publisher and what percentage of the normal price relates to the royaties due to the publisher and author, so we can expect some discounts to be significantly larger than others.....

I have to agree with your perception. As was stated in the original blog
Out of my three choices I only had one significant discount, but that is because of the type of tittles I chose.

Giovanni, feel free to contact me directly at dan@logos.com so I can find out what happened. I could not find any records for your account or email so I am going to need a little help. Do you have any of our software right now? If so, what name is it under? Please send me an email with a copy of the message you received from our sales staff, and your Libronix User ID, so I can research this and help you out.
Thanks, I look forward to serving you.

Yes, he is working today and I just chatted with him about this.

Yes, Dan said they will have some people working Saturday to handle some of the volume of Black Friday emails they've been getting. But they are handling them in the order received, and as of 2AM Saturday they were still only up to the ones that had been sent around 8:30AM the previous morning. So be patient. They might not get back to you until next week.
Also, the Black Friday sales offer was explicitly a one time 3-item offer. You can't get back to them and order more on that sale, as far as I understood it. You can of course buy more other things at normal discounts that your sales rep can get you. But he's probably pretty busy these few days with the sale, so if you've already sent in your order for the sale items, I would sit back and give them all some time to answer the flood of emails they've been getting. It was waaaaaay more than they expected.

No indication that they will set a cutoff at number of persons, only that the offer stops at midnight (Bellingham time) once Cyber Monday is over. If you get your email in by then, it will be handled as soon as they can get to it, which might be a few days at this rate, since they are really backlogged with all the interest in this sale.

I don't think there's a fixed average response time. I think the times are getting longer from the beginning when they were quick to now when they've got quite a backlog. Bradley posted at 2AM Saturday morning that as of that time, they'd only gotten up to the emails that were sent before around 8:30AM Friday. So if you sent it later in the morning you are still in the queue. Be patient. They're working as hard as they can and putting in overtime. But there are some people out on vacation so they're short handed.

I think it all matters on what you choose. I chose one high profile moderate price item, one moderately priced commentary collection, and one very expensive commentary collection. All the discounts were between 25%-32%. Not bad for sure but with the titles I am looking at and finances as they are around this time of year it would have take 50%-70% to pry open the wallet. I do think my selections were a big part of the problem. I have been buying stuff pretty regularly this year too and have a pretty full slate of pre-pubs. Add in the 12 Days and I have to be Scrooge McDuck a little at the moment.

Thomas, when did you send in your request? I sent mine in Friday 1:00 PM EST. Got roped into going to the mall with the Mrs and youngest daughter (at 5:00 AM). Am still waiting to get my quotes. At this point I imagine it will be sometime Monday.
Edit: oops. . . just checked my email to logos sales and it didn't get sent until 4:00 PM EST

That would be a logical explanation except I asked for a title that is in the public domain and therefore doesn't have a publisher and got what seems like a minimal (< 20%) discount. I wonder how much of a role the price of the item plays into the equation or maybe physical media has something to do with it?

Hi Dan,
I have a couple of questions for you. Ben requested a discount on the Jewish New Testament Commentary and received one. I requested the same title and got no discount at all. Is that possible or was this a accident?
Second, I requested a discount on a public domain item and got what appears to me to be a very small discount (far smaller than what others here are describing). Without getting into specifics of the calculation, would this be expected for a public domain title?
If you want to check into the offer I received, Bryan was the one who emailed it to me.
Thanks for your help in advance and this definitely was a unique, novel promotion.

Just got a reply from Bryan...there isn't a discount on that title. Consider yourself fortunate Ben.

Got Oden's, Pannenburg's, and Bloesch's Systematic Theologies with the Black Friday offer. Was pleased with the discounts offered. They're now downloaded, indexed, and safely in my Logos Library. Thanks, Dan!

I just got my email back from my sales rep, Jim-Ray Higginson, saying they've now got 900 emails in their "sales" inbox! That's after more than 24 hours of dealing with them. I'm not sure if he's counting the one's they've already processed yet or not. Anyway, this gives you a bit of a clue as to how much interest there has been in this sale. If they process one email a minute, it would take them 15 hours to get through the rest of those emails, and that's an extremely optimistic estimate of how quickly they can handle each one. Plus there are more emails coming in constantly. That 900 is just the ones they've accumulated thus far on the first two days of the sale.
A hint: if you've already established a relationship with a sales rep and haven't sent your Black Friday email in yet, send it to your sales rep directly, not to sales@logos.com. He or she will get the commission that way, and you'll have the personalized service you've grown accustomed to. And who knows, you might even get your reply sooner. I sent my email in at 4:53PM yesterday and got my response from Jim-Ray less than 24 hours later, at 3:31PM today.
As I'd expected, the largest most expensive bundle I'd asked about wasn't discounted any more than what's shown on the website, but the two other moderately priced ones ($199.95 and $159.95) were discounted (to $149.00 and $109.95, or 25% and 31% off, respectively).

Hmmm... Feeling a little excommunicated here....
I've now seen a few people that stated the time of their emails in the forums and said emails were hours after mine (9:47am Central on Friday) and I still haven't received any response. Checked the spam folders, double checked the sent message folder and all is in place, no response....
Maybe my deal is going to be so discounted it is taking extra long to respond [:D]
Or maybe I'm just getting skipped.... [:(]

Did you follow all the instructions about the email?
1) Include your name and phone number
2) List only three products that you want to inquire about discounts on
3) Include the web URLs of those products
It might take longer to get a response if you didn't do it just like that. If you still don't get a reply by Monday night, email Dan Pritchett (dan@logos.com), attach your sent email as proof that you sent it on time, and he'll make sure you get taken care of.

Several resources I am interested in are published by Baker. Does anyone know if they are restrictive as say Zondervan or could I expect a reasonable discount?
