Black Friday - Cyber Monday 2010
Comments
- Welwyn Commentary series
- Rosscup's Exposition on Prayer in the Bible
Would the Macarthur series be included/excluded from this opportunity?
The only restrictions I saw in the blog is from this paragraph:
To help make sure you don't waste your only three chances for an awesome
deal, it's only fair to warn you that, due to various contracts and
licenses, some titles aren't able to be discounted at all. (Zondervan,
Galaxie, Concordia...) Also, don't ask for a quote for any title that is
not shipping yet, since all Pre-Pubs and Community Pricing titles are not available yet, and the sale ends before they go live.

Does anyone know if you can get the discount on a base package upgrade?
I don't know, but I suspect it's OK. I tried to ask my sales rep about this (and also about Yale, since they've made so much trouble lately), but didn't really get an answer -- which, in this case, I interpret as 'go ahead'. All I can say for sure is: use your sales rep, rather than sales@.
Wish I knew what range the discounts are in! If it's like 50% I'd go for the biggest items on my wish list; if it's more like 20% I'd be more modest and go for the stuff I need most. Also, I wish this happened after the 12 days of Logos; it would be a pity to waste one or more options on something I could equally well have gotten then. Guess man's never content. [:D]

I'm working my way through the web site like a kid in a candy-store.
Makes me wish that there were user reviews/recommendations for resources & collections.
Does anyone own or can make recommendations on any of these:
And can anyone tell me where are the Theologcial Journal's vol's 11-12?

Hi Richard
The TJL's are a Galaxie product that would not qualify per the blog. Happy hunting.
AARRRG! The web page for the journals doesn't name the publisher for those journals.
Thanks for helping me not waste my request.

It's in there. Check out:

The publisher is listed under Product Details. Same for volumes 12 and 13.

Theologcial Journal's vol's 11-12?
Welwyn Commentary series
Sorry Richard to disappoint, the Welwyn Commentary series is still on Pre-Pub & the Theological Journals are from Galaxie so they are not included in the offer.

You can get the New Testament commentaries significantly discounted today on wphonline.com.
If we want to wish big, can we use a payment plan?
I hope this question gets answered. I would hate to waste my three inquiries on ICC, and two other "biggies" that are unaffordable in lump sum purchase. I would also hate to miss them because I assumed they were not offered at a payment plan during this special....
Any word?
Logos 7 Collectors Edition
Well I almost went for one of the offers on the Base Package upgrade from Scholars to Silver. Even sent the email, but after looking at it a little more, it was 10 - 20 dollars more than my normal Academic Pricing that I was quoted not long ago. So I wound up changing my mind.
Pretty good offer on one about 50% it was the lowest of my choices and I only really thought about buying it only at a crazy discount like 75% and the last offer was around 7% or $20 off.
1 good offer, 1 decent offer and the less than 10% offer. I appreciate the chance to get the offers, but right now will have to pass. The upgrade almost had me, and would have been a definite deal if it were $25 lower than my original Academic Pricing quote. Maybe like many others the "Black Friday" "Door Buster" and Cyber Monday crazy sales had my expectations a little unfair for Logos... Maybe we're all getting a little spoiled with the crazy pricing[:)]

Couldn't resist the offer on Mr. Cranfield's two volumes on Romans in the ICC. Wasn't as much off as I had hoped, but I have wanted them badly for some time now. I really have to cut back on books.

Cranfield's Romans ICC are among the best Romans commentaries I've read in some time.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.
I actually want to give Logos a great shout-out and THANKS for the Black Friday special.
The posts on the forum have actually been more negative than positive due to some unexpectedly low discounts, delays in getting emails, etc. But I admire their thought about their customers, they could have done (a) nothing or (b) something easy or (c) something they have done in the past, but no - they tried to go out on a limb and try something new only because they thought it was in their customer's best interests. Bravo.
The "problem", if there is one, is that it was immensely popular. I know for a fact sales people were working Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday to process all the emails. I don't know how many of us would have willingly given up our whole Thanksgiving weekend for customers.
If you feel the samee way I do, I hope people could post some replies thanking Logos for their desire to help customers with this special. They tried to explain they could not give deep discounts on everything. Knowing Logos, I bet they gave the best discounts they could given their contracts with publishers.
If most of what they hear is that the discounts weren't good enough and the replies didn't come fast enough, so be it - I am sure they are well-experienced with the collective psyche of a customer base. I just thank them for trying to help us out as much as they did, and even if it wasn't perfect in customers' eyes, I hope this doesn't paralyze them from going to bat for us in the future. I think their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the heads up JH!
I really like Logos' sales strategy for this one. I put a couple of "dreamers" down, just to see if they will become more affordable plus one that is a bit more realistic for me [Y]
this got me excited this morning. I put a major collection up and then two smaller pieces that might get better prices.
thanks Logos.
THANKS FOR NOTHING LOGOS! ONE ITEM SALE PRICE WAS MORE THAN THE ORIGINAL PRICE! ANOTHER ONE WAS NOT EVEN THE USUAL 25% I GET FROM MY SALES PERSON AND THE OTHER ONE HAD THE WRONG PRICE!!!
I BELIEVE APRIL FOOL'S DAY IS ON APRIL NOT THANKSGIVING! ANYWAY, THAT DID IT FOR ME, I'M GOING TO THE THIRD PARTIES TO GET MY BOOKS IN LOGOS FORMAT AND WHATEVER I BUY WILL PURCHASED WHEN YOU DO HAVE A REAL SALE! BLACK FRIDAY...YEAH RIGHT!!!!
THANKS FOR DISAPPOINTING ME! THE ONLY MONEY YOU'LL PROBABLY SEE FROM ME WILL BE IF YOU HAVE A GOOD DEAL DURING THE 12 DAYS OF LOGOS.
CIAO!
Sorry for your experience Giovanni, I think you may want to REPLY to your extant email and point these things out. If you desire you may want to CC Dan@logos and watch him/them come through in flying colors.
Tom
I commented on this in a previous thread where a forum user was trying to air grievances to Logos, yet doing it publically on the forum.
Some observances:
- If I'm not mistaken, you wanted all of us to read it even though you wrote as if speaking to a Logos rep over the phone. I know at least I would appreciate it if you went ahead and called Logos or shot them an e-mail if you're outside the US instead of posting this in the forum. Its probably the most effective way to cause change in the system. Posting as you did in the forum only causes us to question your motives.
- Secondly, typing in all capitals might not be the best method in communicating any hardships you may have with expectations of fielding a wanted response. Giovanni, I think you already knew everything I just typed so we'll just let it be and hopefully handle this properly if it should arise again.
[Y]
Giovanni,
I agree with Paul, you're not really helping your cause by typing in capital letters or letting your feelings out on public. I kind of had the same experience you had, so I plan to call Logos Monday, since I barely got to check my e-mail today and I know they won't be answering my call at 10PM EST on a Saturday night...hehehe. Trust me, if you e-mail Mr. Dan P. or Bryan P. They will take care of you and make it up to you. I know from experience they always do.
Anyway, I know thanksgiving is gone, but I just want to say: Thank God for Logos and the people doing all the work behind the scenes so we all can have great resources at great prices!
Blessings and Have a great Lord's Day Tomorrow!
Douglas
I usually don't like to air my disappointments because I have so many things that I am thankful for. I'm very thankful that I have the study resources that I have. There are so many in this world that have far less resources yet never complain.
I sent my 3 selections in and got back the same price quote that I received from one of the sales reps last week. I was really hoping that the saving would be better since this was a Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sale.
(Aside. I didn't think this promotion was the best idea because it strains the office support unnecessarily, and it leaves the customer base wondering why things had to be kept behind closed doors. It reminds me of a car salesman going to the sales manager's office asking for a discount that's not going to go below commission plus cost. I understand that a company has to make money to stay in business, and a company has to keep its customer base happy. It would have made more sense to offer a scaled discount savings. First, mark all items that have coupons down to that lowest price. Second, the more money you spend the more you save: $50 - $100 dollar = 20% discount. $100 - $200 dollars = 30%. I think a maximum of 60% savings would have been reasonable.)
Maybe I should have spent my time working in the field of harvest Friday morning instead of worrying about getting a discount on a new book for my library. Will we ever learn?
Thanks Logos.
Like your avatar!! I live in Alexandria,La.
Thanks. I am going to change it soon since the season is ending. I was hoping that we could have won today, oh well. I am originally from the Baton Rouge area now living in South Carolina.
Giovanni, feel free to contact me directly at dan@logos.com so I can find out what happened. I could not find any records for your account or email so I am going to need a little help. Do you have any of our software right now? If so, what name is it under? Please send me an email with a copy of the message you received from our sales staff, and your Libronix User ID, so I can research this and help you out.
Thanks, I look forward to serving you.
