Just to update and show how good Logos operates, just got an email back from Dan within minutes. Not many companies where Executive types respond so quickly and on the weekend....
Seems my Academic discount is the hold-up, had to be forwarded to the Academic sales team....
Even when I get frustrated with waiting on missing features, this is a prime example of why I still love Logos!

Got my offer, 33% off on one, and 23% off of another, third strangely ignored. Guessing that it did not qualify.
Now to decide...

I received mine and got nice discounts on 2 of the 3 requests. I was disappointed that my other request got no additional discount but I quickly remembered that I need to rejoice no matter what. Thank you Logos for these Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.
Now I have to somehow convince my wife that spending over $100 is a deal [+o(]

A hint: if you've already established a relationship with a sales rep and haven't sent your Black Friday email in yet, send it to your sales rep directly, not to sales@logos.com. He or she will get the commission that way, and you'll have the personalized service you've grown accustomed to. And who knows, you might even get your reply sooner.
I had wondered if we could direct our request to our own personal rep. Thanks for answering that question.
I'm still trying to whittle my list down to send to Dave Kaplan.

One of my accept's was a Baker. Can't speak for all of them though.

More info for people wondering when their replies might come in... I emailed Logos at 2:15 PM Eastern time Friday and got my reply at 7:15 PM Eastern time this evening (Sat).
I got 33% off one item, 40% off the second, and about 70% off the third - very excited about that. If anyone is working on their list of 3 items at this point, my approach was to pick one lower-priced item I'd definitely get for any kind of discount, a medium-priced item that I'd get for a good discount, and a high-priced item I'd get for an unexpectedly good discount. Unfortunately, the 70% discount was on the mid-priced item. But I'll still probably get all 3 items.
FYI...

Several resources I am interested in are published by Baker. Does anyone know if they are restrictive as say Zondervan or could I expect a reasonable discount?
I'm interested in Baker & ICC. So I have been watching this thread hoping to learn something before I expend my three wishes on something I can't have.....
I went with ICC, they ended up taking about $500.00 off the price, really sweet deal...

I went with the IVP collection, but it says it's a CD. Does this mean it's being mailed to me? The other thing I purchased has already downloaded and indexed, but there's no sign of the IVP files...

Hi Ben! *smile*
Peace to you! and Joy in the Lord!
Why not look at your completed order under your account? If you click on the number there, I think you might find instructions as to the possibility of downloading it.
Would be great if you could. That kind of situation does frustrate me sometimes, as I guess I still need to work on my "patience"!

The IVP products (all of them?) require a serial number to activate - but the serial numbers are only distributed on the CDs. Once you have your CDs. then you can call LOGOS Customer Service and they can activate over the phone so you can download the product. Unless something has changed, there is no other way to get a serial number.

Matthew, I did not bid on the ICC set but did bid on a couple of commentaries from that set. I've purchased individual commentaries from the ICC, but was told that I could not bid on individual commentaries here. Any way, I was given a very generous price for the set (the same as mentioned by Jerry), but can't really afford the entire set at this time.

Giovanni,
I agree with Paul, you're not really helping your cause by typing in capital letters or letting your feelings out on public. I kind of had the same experience you had, so I plan to call Logos Monday, since I barely got to check my e-mail today and I know they won't be answering my call at 10PM EST on a Saturday night...hehehe. Trust me, if you e-mail Mr. Dan P. or Bryan P. They will take care of you and make it up to you. I know from experience they always do.
Anyway, I know thanksgiving is gone, but I just want to say: Thank God for Logos and the people doing all the work behind the scenes so we all can have great resources at great prices!
Blessings and Have a great Lord's Day Tomorrow!

I usually don't like to air my disappointments because I have so many things that I am thankful for. I'm very thankful that I have the study resources that I have. There are so many in this world that have far less resources yet never complain.
I sent my 3 selections in and got back the same price quote that I received from one of the sales reps last week. I was really hoping that the saving would be better since this was a Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sale.
(Aside. I didn't think this promotion was the best idea because it strains the office support unnecessarily, and it leaves the customer base wondering why things had to be kept behind closed doors. It reminds me of a car salesman going to the sales manager's office asking for a discount that's not going to go below commission plus cost. I understand that a company has to make money to stay in business, and a company has to keep its customer base happy. It would have made more sense to offer a scaled discount savings. First, mark all items that have coupons down to that lowest price. Second, the more money you spend the more you save: $50 - $100 dollar = 20% discount. $100 - $200 dollars = 30%. I think a maximum of 60% savings would have been reasonable.)
Maybe I should have spent my time working in the field of harvest Friday morning instead of worrying about getting a discount on a new book for my library. Will we ever learn?
Thanks Logos.0 -

Good point Chuck. I must have checked my email several times an hour today--not the best use of my time.

Thanks. I am going to change it soon since the season is ending. I was hoping that we could have won today, oh well. I am originally from the Baton Rouge area now living in South Carolina.

I have a friend who does traveling sales, every couple of years his region has what they call a "Garage Sale". They rent out a hall somewhere, and fill it with overstock items, close-outs, discontinued products, and everything else that has been sitting on a shelf for some time. Then he sends out personal invitations to his customers, who come in droves to buy at the event.
When I found out that the prices at the "sale" really weren't much better than he could offer them everyday, I asked him why they even bother having the event. He then showed me a two inch stack of receipts, and said "This pile here is just the people who never buy anything from me normally..."

I wouldn't be too sure of that. I got my response at 7:04pm PST today (sent my e-mail 1:52pm Friday). I called a little while ago and the sales rep answered. I got my 3 picks and they're downloading now. [:)]

I got fantastic deals with the Black Friday sale.
I got a Collection I've been eyeballing (~ $700 regular price) as well as a Commentary set I wanted (~ $400 regular price). I added the Demons and Deities Dictionary to round out the package.
My final price for over $1200 worth of resources just barely broke $500... ELATED!! Bought all three and am now merging the indexes [:)]
Thanks Logos!!

I got 30%, 30% and 40%. Not earth-shaking, but good enough to help me buy. Thanks Logos!

I got 56%, 42% and about 14% off. I bought the first two, which happened to be public domain titles. The latter one was not. I figured I got the higher discount for the public domain works because from Logos' perspective there are no royalties and the labor that they put into producing the titles is sunk.

Receive 10% off and 30% off - I missed that my third was still on prepub (ouch!). I think I will have to bypass the offers this time.

Questions! Questions! and in the middle of a weekend night, too...
Can someone tell me whether the Judaism & Christianity Collection is useful or interesting?
How about the Sheffield Reader Collection? Is there some other JSOT/JSNT collection of intermediate price (not in Portfolio) that would be better?
What do you recommend: SESB 3.0 regular? or SESB 3.0 for Logos?
Thanks for the help. This thread has already helped me a lot!

You guys are officially hired to be on my PR team. LOL.
Of course it's a non-paid position so......
Surely you can afford to pay us out of the amount you've saved! Maybe Mrs. Black will come round if you offer her the privilege of a peek at the resources when you're not using them....

For me the choice of three was easy ... I have had my eye on these for a long time ... but can barely keep up with my growing pre-pub dependency to ever think of buying other resources as well. [:$]
As it happens, one was Lexham (Logos in-house) and one was part of the Platinum package (discountable, at least within that package, but therefore an amenable publisher).
I was offered between 33% (Lexham) to 20% discount, better than nothing but not stunning.
A tricky decision ... I still do not like the 'private deal, car salesman' approach of having your own personal dealer, it still seems 'dishonest'. Let me make it clear that I do not believe it to be, but here in the UK, prices are prices, public, open and fair. The only places were bartering is general practice are used car sales, house sales, double glazing and builders. All of whom have a poor reputation.
I also find it curious that, on this thread, nobody, including myself, has actually put much up by way of concrete $ prices for specific resources. I am not aware of any prohibition but I am following the convention that has appeared within this thread. This is by way of an observation more than anything.
Will I take up any of the offers? Mrs. F says yes, I am not so sure.

I got 16% on a PD title. Still scratching my head on this one. I definitely would have purchased if there was a big discount. Now, not so sure.

Ouch. I shot high myself and went for Platinum. If the results are the same here, now I wish I had not gone for a base package upgrade...

Rebecca RG ... which SESB depends on what you already have. Last year, I got the cheapo and then ended up getting the 3.0 upgrade because I needed the LXX apparatus. So, squinting is a good thing.

I'm from the UK too, and agree absolutely. I find it very strange that I can telephone a particular sales rep and get a better deal than I can online. I'm slowly getting used to it, but it still doesn't feel right. I guess it's a cultural thing.

Bought all three (discounts of 38%, 18% and 30%) (Sun Nov 28 about 9 AM EST)
(And I did ask if they were getting the proper amount of sleep)
[With my current collection of resources my estimated time to do a complete study on any given verse is about 45 days (define complete study as read every resource that touches the subject) (that estimate includes the time to do the 17 other studies I will have to do because of things I find interesting in the original study)]

If you have a nice sales rep it might be possible to have the CD delivered directly to him. He then enters the serial number and throws away the disc, after which you can download as normal. Don't know if they can do it with all publishers, though.
If I get a good price on the only CD-product I had on my list, I'm certainly hoping to do it that way. Though considering his work load right now, I fully intend to tell him he can deal with it a bit later, when things have calmed down a little... [:)]

I had single items selected from Baker. Funny thing is a month ago I was offered 25% off the two Baker titles if I selected five titles or more no matter the publisher. That was by calling sales directly. I didn't have five titles. I guess three isn't enough on this deal.

I decided to dream big.
16 hours later:
18% off a major set from Eerdmans
8% off a small set from Eerdmans
No discount available on the single title from Baker
I struck out.
We'll see what's in the 12 Days of Logos sale.
UPDATE: I got an update from my rep. The major set is 26% off. That's better. I was hoping for more.
My rep said that he had over 600 emails waiting.

I haven't read the whole thread, so forgive me if this has been discussed to death as I suspect it may have been. I guess Best Buy, et. al. has spoiled me, but I was expecting larger discounts. I had a $25 item reduced to $20, a $45 item reduced to $30, and a $175 item reduced to $150. The middle one is acceptable, though not really stellar, but the other two discounts were so much less than my expectations, that I finished reading the email feeling disappointed. I've spent plenty on Logos (Platinum + TJL 1-10 + others), and I will spend more, but this seemed like an ordinary Logos sale. I couldn't justify an extra purchase this time at those prices. It's not like the $100 Plasma TV at Best Buy, for example. Like I said, I guess I am spoiled. I DO appreciate the effort, but I'm hoping one of my items ends up on the 12 Days of Christmas.

It was mentioned that we could use the payment plan to pay for black friday specials. Do you have to call to do that or can you set up a payment plan on the web site?

I received 23% off of an Eerdman's set and 0% (zero, zip, nada) off of a Logos Research Systems set that is in the public domain. So I am really not sure how the discounts are being calculated.
