Has a virus been causing my problems all along?
0882.Logos4Indexer (2).zipI entered 2 different posts lately one of them http://community.logos.com/forums/t/26559.aspx the other at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/26074/192694.aspx#192694 to better explain it I have had some big problems with my indexing when i tried to rebuild my index no good. Last night I did a complete virus scan and I found 2 virus files both listed by my Norton Internet Security as "Downloader"
I probably uploaded too many log files but I wasn't sure which to load so . . .
I wonder if I should re-install everything books and all to do a clean install so this thing will stop crashing on index. I am presently using L4.2 Beta 8

Another user reported an Indexer crash in 4.2 RC1 with the same crash data today, so this most likely is not due to the virus. What I recommended to him is to close Logos 4 and delete the files in your Libraryindex folder. When you restart Logos 4, it will rebuild your index. Since that may take quite a bit of time, you may want to plan it for a time when you don't need to use the program.

Surely NIS lists the location of these viruses and gives you a description of their activity!? I found this description from Symantec so it appears to not be related to your indexer problem and the virus should be easily eliminated.
The indexer is crashing out after completing its main indexing work, when writing the index files to the hard drive - same error as you reported previously.
I see Melissa says to rebuild by deleting the index folder but you may need to re-install with Chill pads!
My question is why did you try to rebuild the index after the last successful re-install?

I tried to rebuild after the last install because it started indexing from install and it crashed. whew I am getting myself confused [:'(]

Are you currently re-indexing with chill pads (maybe use a household fan for extra cooling!)?

Did just what you said! (although it took a little searching to find the Libraryindex folder but I found it!) When i restarted it went to work rebuilding then crashed again.

Thanks for giving it a try. The other user that reported the problem accidentally discovered it may have been a particular resource causing the problem. We'll review your logs to see if we can pinpoint it. We wouldn't recommend trying what he did: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/26663/197016.aspx#197016. )
Edit: Replaced forum link with correct one.

[:$] If I could read log files and make any sense out of them I might try, but I can't make heads or tails out of them. [:^)]

We think the problem could be related to your Sermons resource, as both you and the other user with the same crash had references to those files in your logs. Development is requesting copies of your Sermons and Illustrations resources, found in \Documents\Libronix Resources. If you don't want to post them here, you can send them to Logos4Feedback at logos.com.

Thanks for uploading these files; I've been able to reproduce the crash with them.

Please tell me it wasn't something I did?
No, it appears to be an error in how the sermon file resource was created. Fortunately, we can detect this error at indexing time and ignore the bad data that's in the file (specifically, an internal "length" value is set incorrectly). As far as we can tell, this bad data only affects indexing and shouldn't cause any other problems with the resource.
The next RC will include a fix.

[+o(] This is getting monotonous. And I don't even like using big words. I was excited to see the update that was made and glad to get it! it started making a new index then yuck! I saw the same things happen all over again [:'(] I tried again and again and no luck.
I thought i did everything right.
- I used and am using my chill pad
- after 2 unsuccssesful tries i went to Libraryindex file and deleted everything in it
- Tried again still no luck
- I am uploading my latest files

Wes,
You are still using RC1. Update to RC2 as per the thread at the top of the forum (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/26715.aspx).

At last! I did a forced upgrade because even though I had upgraded from RC1 to RC2 something had happened that wouldn't let it work. So I did a forced upgrade and it worked! No more index troubles! [:D]
