Nook Color

I certainly can't speak for the Logos development team in any respect, but from what I have read on here in the past. The web based Logos access is the way they expect you to use http://biblia.com/ So with the nook if you can browse web pages you will be able to use logos in the same respect you can use biblia. Now as for Android, I think Logos should offer it but I honestly can;t see it happening. Look at twitter. it had to make over one hundred different versions of it's android app to run on the over 200 variations of handsets. Logos seems to have it;s hands full dealing with the iOS version it has. I believe I even saw it mention outside help for it. Now iOS is very standardized, if they need help doing it. How likely are they to release an android version  which may run on a small portion of devices. Or give the effort to develop over a hundred to cover most of the android devices. Maybe in the future android will be standardized enough to develop on but for now it's a real mess. I have seen reports on more than one developer who has had great success with the iOS, drop or scale back plans for Android because they just can't make one application that runs on all devices. One of the game makers literally had angry emails saying the quality of their game for android was nowhere near their iOS App version and they felt ripped off, and the companies response was they did the best they could do, but because of the widely varying hardware setups it wasn't possible for them to make their android version equal the iOS version. It may sound like a cop out, but when you hear of the problems twitter had, you realize development for android is not as easy as it should theoretically be.

What really needs to happen is an android developer making a nice interface for biblia (which is currently, for the most part, what the iOS app is at the moment), but then there are screen size issues. are you making it for the large 7" galaxy, the regular phone, or the 2.6" phone with the 240x320 screen, after all it is an android phone. Apple deserves and should have competition, but Android while I do believe will end up being iOS's main rival right now it still seems like a joke on the software development side due in no small part to the lack of hardware standards. You have lots of hardware choices out there but it's almost luck of the draw if your device will run a program. I am thankful for companies like twitter who want to be android friendly, but in the end can you see how the more complex an application you get the more problems you run into with widely varying hardware. And saying you must have x size screen and y speed processor to run this, sounds like an over simplification when you consider that the 200 some different models likely don' have 100 different screen speed variations (although math was never my strongest suit and my knowledge of android is based an what my spouse has experienced on his Android, and choices in handsets he had).

Wow, if you don't like Android why don't you just come out and say it. No need for half a dozen back-handed insults. Android is actually outselling iOS at the moment and will be the only real competition iOS has due to the number of devices and carrier options people have. With Netflix, hulu, and Logos apps coming soon there will be little the iOS can do that any Android device can't. I have an iPad and an android phone and love them both. I am not saying twitter did not have difficulty with their apps, I am only saying that my experience on two Android forums as well as at least four Android blogs I follow I have heard nothing of the sort and if they did it is the exception not the rule. Can't wait for the Logos Android app!

I honestly don't hate android. I may have sounded very negative, i just meant to give a full look at the issues.  I think within 2 years Android will likely be as good as iphone and more standardized. I just meant to say it was easier in many ways to do the iPhone. I am very happy to hear Logos is doing an android version. And will be just as happy to hear about any other version Logos does.  If you had heard my feelings on the iphone you would have thought I was being kind to Android.

I've been looking at ht e Nook color as well and did noticed that it was rooted this week. This may allow it to be able to run regular apps. I'm thinking that by time Logos comes out with the android app that they will have the Nook color all tricked out. Can't beat the price.

As mark said , it a hack into the software that allows programmers to modify the device. Since they just found a way to root it, it is very tricky and at this point they haven't put the app market  on it. My guess is that at the price of the color it should attract alot of attention.

Are there any ethical issues that need to be addressed before doing such a "hack" to a device?
